They did start a day late, so maybe tomorrow will be a good number of invites. Historically a lot of rejections tomorrow too. Could be both good and bad news coming!

It might could just be high this year. I think Booth is really serious about only taking the smartest people.

I mean almost 80%+ of submissions here and on livewire are 740+ gmat scores. With an average of 730, I have to think there needs to a decent contingent of interview invites with a gmat score less than 730..unless there is some major discrepancy in avg scores between R1 and R2

Anyone still not hear back? Any indication of the volume of invites to be sent out tomorrow? Comparing this cycle to last year's R1 - seems like were on the lighter end of invites that have gone out already (Tuesday - Thursday)?

I haven’t got any update yet. From last year’s experience, of not invited on Thursday, it’s pretty much a rejection...

I don’t think they are gonna drag this process to next Monday. It’s more likely that they are just doing it for a whole week and that’s all.

GMAT score doesn’t mean you’re smart. It means you can take a test. Haha

I mostly agree with you. GMAT is not an indication of one’s intellect or IQ. I know that because GMAT has crushed a number of fancy IQ guys and left them in the dust. I feel GMAT is somewhat of a measure of one’s determination and ability to reach a goal except instead of building a Sandcastle it’s a bunch of high school math and grammar.

I just took a look at the stats. There were 120+ interview invites in r1 last year. But so far we got only 30 this year. Considering that gmatclub was blocked by the Chinese government this year but not blocked last year, let’s say there were 30 invites in China. That still leaves us 120-30-30=60 short this year.
I’m probably just being paranoid. I know Booth has some criteria that I don’t satisfy, but I’m just really hoping to get into U Chicago because of my academic background in economics. Getting worried everyday now.

The invites last year were probably over time (meaning in the course of last year people have added their info as opposed to adding it right after invites went out). Some are embarrassed to add an invite and then have to report a ding so they wait for the admit and then the admit is also reflected in the invitations stats since you can’t get an admit without an interview....

Seems like a ding for me at this point...

If they seriously think they got the smartest people because of a bunch of test scores, it's probably a bit naive.

I'd also add that their email system is broken this year so a lot of people only found out they got invited after checking the portal. Chances are some people didn't post their interview invites because they don't even know that they're invited yet so it is a wise move to start managing expectations.

I didn't receive an invitation notice via email. Only knew after obsessively checking the portal all afternoon. Invitation numbers seem low, so I expect more tomorrow.

Also, it's important to note that schools are really concerned about yield, and I've heard from folks close to adcoms that they sometimes waitlist candidates with the intention of offering interviews later on.

Unless I talked to you earlier on the forum, I think you’re like the 6th person who submitted GRE without a response so far. Could mean they’re doing it batches and they grouped GRE folks together? Good news may be coming tomorrow for you. Keep up the hope!

I’ve never heard of Booth doing a waitlist prior to interview. So many people apply, I don’t think they’d need that.
