I got an interview invite last Friday. I received this on email today


Within the next week, the Interview Team Captain for exception requests, will contact you via email to introduce you to your assigned interviewer, so that you are able to coordinate your schedules.

What does exception request mean? I did not ask for any exception and I'm based out of a city where interviews happen every year.

Can someone please help with what this means?

I asked for an exception and received the same email yesterday. The email is super ambiguous whether the interview will be conducted by local alumni or via Skype, I guess we'll only find out when the Interview Team Captain (?) contacts us.

We have a Fuqua Mock Interview Opportunity

If you are interested in getting some interview practice and interview feedback, we have an opportunity open for one Mock Interview on Sunday at 8 AM Pacific Time. This Mock Interview will be on YouTube live and others will be able to see it/you but we will not disclose your username or your name, so you will remain just a Fuqua Applicant.

The interview will be conducted by a Second Year MBA Student and will simulate what you may experience in your Fuqua Interview.

Mine did, although I interviewed about a month ago during the open interview period. It was a very brief note (it was nice meeting you/glad you enjoyed the experience/good luck with the process).

Mine did not. And as a matter of fact, my interviewer wasn't taking excessive notes either which worries me a little :(

What am I supposed to make if my interviewer between the interview kept telling “ Even if you dont make it to Fuqua, I am sure you will do well in your career”

Probably he/she might be testing to see how you react. My interviewer did exactly that last year. I just smiled when he said that towards the end of the interview and again when he walked me out. In my opinion he was a jerk, but couldn’t tell that to his face. I was eventually waitlisted and then rejected.

Hopefully I get an interviewer who is more easy to connect with this time.

Thanks for the reply. Since you have already given interviews last year, how important do you think is the interview. Is an interview make or break.?

Do they assign points for various aspects..?

Especially with Fuqua..?

In all seriousness, I don't think there's a correlation with such statements and the outcome of your application, interview is just 1 data point. If your stats and essays are good, I think a good enough interview will be fine.
