Kudos
I do not think it will have an impact on the decisions this year but I also think that they will utilize this information for those they admitted and those they did not and figure out how to utilize the tool in the coming years.

This is me speculating.

I would also assume that the Dec 16th deadline is to try to compel people that did not get admitted to take the assessment as well. Kind of hard to compel people to do extra work if you just gave them a big thumbs down.

Does anyone know if they call admitted applicants prior to the official decision date? i.e. Michigan Ross decision date is 12/18 but they announced they will call admits (domestic) starting Monday, 12/16.

Based on GMAT Club and ClearAdmit data from the last couple of years (proof that I am totally with you in the waiting anxiety, prompting some research...), it looks like notification calls go out on the deadline day (17 December). I know it is tough to wait, but they know what they are doing!

As per trend, they do call but ON the admissions deadline only.

That soft skills assessment? Just finished it a little while back and it was so weird! They need to work on it more before they start using it in admissions process in my opinion!

On a similar but different note, Happy THE DAY! It is already 17th in Pakistan! Now I am waiting for it to be 17th in the US and for the decisions to be sent to us all.

It'll be a mix of both - primarily based on the time zones and availability of the staff/students.

I got my decision via email last year and a phone call the next day. So do keep an eye out for status updates on your application.

Couple of things I'd like to address:

1) About the "Tell Me about yourself" - You have to understand that once you are in a B-School Landscape, you will have not more than 2 minutes to meet someone new and pitch them about yourself in a networking event. This is a very good practice pad. You have to choose what to share and what not to. What makes you uniquely you? How you frame your answer to that question is very important as you travel through your MBA journey!

2) About the "Do you have any questions for me" - simple way to decide what should be asked is if you can find it online/blog then that question is a big no. Look at it this way - you are mostly moving into a new city, new culture away from home. Do you really not have any questions about how the city is? Do you not want to know what made the interviewer join/excited about McCombs? This is a great chance to stand out from your peers and show that you really picture yourself living there. And again this is a skill that you will need to use as you recruit here.

3) The wait for the decisions is exhausting - but you should hear back soon. Keep a positive mindset! I applied for 3 years in a row, so I totally understand what you guys are going through. It is worth the wait.

4) The Soft-skills assessments will NOT have an impact on your decision. Its clearly mentioned in the mail - so don't worry about it. I cannot stress enough that this is not going to affect your admission decisions. All the Top B-Schools are piloting similar tools. Hold your horses before you make any deductions whatsoever.

Take a breath, relax! You've done great to get till here, just a few more hours of patience!
