Has anyone considered the Gies iMBA? This is a fully accredited MBA degree from the University of Illinois. It is totally delivered on-line with no campus requirement. Also, there is no GMAT nor GRE requirement! The best part is the low cost: only $22,000! Students can begin taking credit classes before admission. These credits are transferable to the iMBA or any other university. MOOC classes and distance learning have received favorable reviews from Harvard Business Review and CNNMoney.
"We're catering to people who typically wouldn't be able to come into an MBA program at this stage in their life, but still need it to advance their careers," said Nikhil Sinha, the Chief Business Officer at Coursera. During a panel discussion, Dean Raj Echambadi stated that the mission of the Gies iMBA is to deliver high quality education at an affordable price. This is an effort to broaden the definition of an MBA degree, and to deliver a more meaningful business learning experience.
The website claims that there is no difference between the iMBA and the on-campus MBA. All transcripts and diplomas will state you studied at Urbana-Champaign. My transcript from The University of Maryland reflects a similar experience. While stationed with the USAF in Germany, I took several classes at the UM Frankfurt campus. My first transcript reflected this fact. Two years later, I received a letter and an updated transcript. The letter stated that some military students had encountered problems while transferring credits, especially to graduate programs. The problem was the location. My updated transcript now reads College Park, MD. No problems since, all transfer credits have been accepted w/o questions.
In a time of increasing e-commerce, world-wide acceptance of MOOC, leveraging information and knowledge in an increasingly flat world, the Gies iMBA makes a lot of sense and represents a tremendous return-on-investment.

I have my interview next week! Any tips on what they might ask? Also, just curious, did anyone submit any content outside of what they asked? (Portfolio, etc.)

One additional question. Of those who were accepted, how many references did you submit? I have 3 submitted but 2 ppl. haven't submitted yet. Will that suffice?

Hi GMATHopeful09,
For questions in the interview, please review the previous pages. It has all you need. Obviously they want to know why you want to do this MBA, why you are a good candidate etc..
For references, I submitted 3 and this was enough. At start I had 4 but I discarded the fourth one that wasn't yet sent, because I thought it could take time and I wanted my application to be treated faster.
Once your application is complete online (i.e all documents submitted), you can sent them a mail to continue further review of your application. But be patient.

I didn't submit a portfolio. On this forum I've heard that some submitted a GMAT score to enhance their app and during the webinar they advised us to submit anything you think can enhance your application. For instance if you have low grades somewhere, you could perhaps compensate with a high GMAT score...

SMoorthi Mine took about a month, submitted 11/04, accepted 12/03. Hang in there! As long as you got it in by the deadline you should receive some notification of some sort. It did take nearly 3 weeks for me to receive the email for the interview.

Hi Everyone!
I had my interview last week and received an email same day stating I was accepted and that they have referred me to the Graduate College. I still haven't received an official NOA, anyone else in the same boat? How long did it take for you to receive NOA?

My interview done on yesterday. Hopefully will get feedback with in this week
Update: I just got my email notification! I'm in! Woohoo!!
Have you got your notification? I did my interview on Dec 11, and the interviewer mentioned that I will get notification by Dec 13 whether if I got admitted or rejected. But I haven't heard anything until EOD, I checked my application station and it still mentioned "awaiting decision".

Yes, I got the NOA on Tuesday (Dec 17), made my payment that day as well, and now I'm starting my onboarding classes. Probably you should email them and check.
