Most people end up combining GMAT preparation with a full-time job or perhaps taking some hours off their busy schedule. I optimize my workdays to shift to work further in the afternoon and study for the GMAT in the morning. Can you do that?

You could do some volunteer work or something else in the afternoons since studying for more than three or four hours per day is probably not going to be productive. However it’s sort of needs to fit into the general story as to why you decided to quit the job in volunteer. It would just look odd otherwise which is why am suggesting that you keep your job and optimize your schedule.

Hi,
I have more than 6 years of work exp.But have struggled to get a foothold in my industry ,so I have appeared for CAT before ,percentile was not upto the mark.I have decided to quit my job and prepare myself solely for GMAT but whatever I know is that premier colleges of India wont entertain gaps in work ex.In that case what are the options that I have which I can do to showcase that I was doing something meaningful and will that experience add upto my work ex.I will welcome any suggestion

First of all, think and evaluate your situation before taking any drastic call. Drastic in a sense that generally people preparing for GMAT have a regular jobs and apply while being in their jobs. You are the best person to take the decision.
I have taken a break from my work since i didn't my last job as valuable as it should be (minus money part :) ). I did some volunteer work than evaluated what i need to grow in my professional career the destination i want to reach. After a while, MBA is what that made sense so here i am.

But note that that not getting salary after having worked for 72 months would surely bite you big time. However, if you have concrete plan - consultancy, volunteer or business, you should be good to go.

Part time jobs on certain days, combined with full time studies on other days, may work for you. Make sure you have right materials to study (og2020 series and questions from gmat club)
