Manu03 one more consideration is how the ad com member(s) will view your scores. Say you got 650 and then got 700+.

Imagine you are an admission officer. You review two applications which are almost identical. For simplicity, invent two candidates Mr X and Mr Y. Let's say both scored 720, but Mr X scored 650 and then, XYZ months later, he scored 720. Mr Y, however, got 720 in his first attempt.

It is quite possible that an admission officer will appreciate the perseverance and commitment that Mr X demonstrated in his GMAT journey. So, the ad com member might pick Mr X, not Mr Y.

This is theoretical, but I have heard this story at several ad com webinars; the above was also supported by few alums and admission consultants. So, it is not a bad idea to keep your score. Just keep in mind that everyone's case is unique.

Hi Manu03,

Since you have the option to reinstate any canceled scores, you certainly can cancel a score if it is below your score goal. With that said, it’s a good idea to take your GMAT when you feel ready to do so, so you can avoid having to take the GMAT multiple times.

A few MBA programs such as Booth may request applicants to submit their unofficial score reports that list all of their scores including the ones that are canceled/hidden. It’s really not a big deal and at the end the day it doesn’t really matter all that much.
