Scary things are countable. Therefore we use the most; possibly and perhaps are redundant. Answer is B.

A) perhaps the more.....more is used in case of comparision...here only single reason is stated....so superlative degree needs to be used.
B) perhaps the most,........CORRECT
C) possibly, perhaps the most
D) possibly the greatest
E) possibly the great.........USAGE OF possibly is incorrect

Quote:
Among the litany of threats that many Israelis face, the potential for a nuclear-armed Iran is perhaps the more scary as this scenario could engulf the region in a violent war. This would likely result in historically unseen amounts of destruction, even for a region whose history is marred by perennial violence.

A) perhaps the more
B) perhaps the most
C) possibly, perhaps the most
D) possibly the greatest
E) possibly the great

MEANING: Among the threats many face, the potential for a nuclear-armed Iran is perhaps the MOST scary.

NOTES: "possibly, perhaps" is redundant; "more" is used with quantity/numbers; here "among the threats" imps there are more than 2 threats, so we use "most" the superlative.

The right answer is option B.

Meaning: Among the lithany of threats that many Israelis face, the potential for a nuclear-armed Iran is perhaps the most scary as this scenario could engulf the region in a violent war.
The keyword to note in the non-underlined portion of the sentence is among. Among modifies three or more entities. Hence in the context of the sentence, Israel faces at least three more threats, out of which the threat from Iran's nuclear program is perhaps the most scary. More scary will not work since we have more than two threats. A can, therefore, be eliminated.
In C, possibly, perhaps is redundant since possibly and perhaps express the same idea of probability. We can eliminate C for wordiness.
In D and E, greatest and great are not appropriate because we are dealing with countable nouns. Threats are countable and they are modified rightly with among. We can eliminate D and E and be left with B as the best answer.

'Among the litany of threats' indicates that there are more than 2 threats. So superlative 'most' must be used for comparison.
C- possible, perhaps- redundant usage.
D,E- 'great' is the wrong comparison word. '...great scary..' makes no sense.

The superlative adjective should be used to compare three or more nouns (because of AMONG)
—> A and E— out

C) possibly, perhaps ....redundancy
In D, after the greatest, the should be a noun. Scary is an adjective here. D is out

In B, everything seems Ok. — the most scary ... CORRECT one

The answer is B

B boy.

A. "more" is wrong not a comparison
B. "Perhaps" is good...indicates it "maybe" could happen
C. "Possibly/perhaps" cant go together
D. "Possibly the great scary" "Possibly the greatest scary" not a proper comparison. Would need to say "most scary" or "possibly the greatest threat..." etc

A) perhaps the more
B) perhaps the most
C) possibly, perhaps the most
D) possibly the greatest
E) possibly the great

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

The superlative form most scary must be used instead of the comparative form more scary since the author is indicating that among all the threats, a specific threat is the most scary.

A. more must be replaced by most as the superlative form (most) must be used since the author is not comparing threats but stating that a single threat is the scariest

B. The superlative form is correctly used

C. Although the superlative form is correctly used, this choice makes the sentence unduly long; the phrase possibly, perhaps is awkward and not idiomatically correct

D. While a superlative is used, the sentence is exceedingly awkward as the phrase possibly the greatest scary is not idiomatic

E. The superlative form is not used; the phrase possibly the great scary as this scenario is awkward and not idiomatic
