Guys, between McGill, Sauder and Schulich what would you rank them for Venture Capital?
VC Placement post-Canadian MBA is a difficult task. Most of the top funds will attract M7, INSEAD/LBS level talent, while smaller funds only sporadically hire Post-MBA Associates.
You would need to have the following:
- Connection to a fund in Canada or Abroad that deals a lot in Canada.
- Prior PE/VC or IB experience.
- PE/VC or IB Internship.
- Ideally North-American Experience
- Ideally below 30 (Funds tend to prefer younger candidates in my experience)
but to answer the question:
McGill >Schulich>Sauder. McGill has the strongest program out of the three and you have iNovia + White Star (Some of the largest VC funds in the country) in Montreal. Montreal also has a stronger tech/start-up culture than Western Canada. Toronto is obviously ideal, but from my research, the few PE/VC placements that are available would be filled by Queen's, Rotman and Ivey over Schulich.
