Hi there,

Gave my GMAT recently, well I gave it today, and I'm kinda disappointed with my scores. I may retake the test again in March, but I parallely want to understand where I'm at right now in terms of my chances.

Basics: 27, Indian Male (Non-engineering and non-techie), GMAT: 650 (V34, Q46)

Education: Chartered Accountant (Got my license in 2017) and B.Com (Hons) from Delhi University with a CGPA of 5-6 (not sure since I my marks were in %). 10th and 12th were 86% and 79% respectively.

Work Experience - Interned for 2 years with a top 10 professional services firm in North India between 2013 and 2015; Working with PwC India in their Transfer Pricing (Tax) line of service since April 2017. Was promoted in 2019; Received consistently positive appraisals (top 2 performance ratings). Handling close to 30% of Partner's turnover. Worked on one of the largest bilateral APA for the Indian subsidiary of a UK based group through which we achieved tax certainty for the Company for 5 future years; In general worked for clients based out of UK, US, Japan, Switzerland, Germany etc; Lead relationship on several of my accounts where I'm responsible for not only managing the day-to-day matters but also to develop the account for the firm; Received multiple client appreciation awards during my stint at PwC.

Extra Curriculars / Volunteering - Played Table Tennis upto zonal levels during school days; Love trekking. Have gone on professional treks and plan on doing more as the overhang of GMAT leaves my mental space :-). Part of Steering Committee at PwC India, Transfer Pricing where I was responsible for receiving feedback from people on the floor, developing and executing programmes to increase the connect between leadership and practice employees.

Target Schools - IE, ISADE, SDA Bocconi

Hi there,

The pros in your profile are that you have strong work experience and have shown steady growth/progression. You seem to have great extracurricular activities too that demonstrate leadership. The part where you may need some work is raising your GMAT score. Your score is slightly below the average for the schools you're targeting. That is not to say that the pros of your profile won't balance out the lower GMAT score, but to ensure that you're putting your best foot forward, it's better for you to increase your GMAT to at least 680. If you can reach this score, you have a fair shot at these schools.

Some other parts that are going to be important in determining your chances at these school are strength of your recommendation letters and essays. Make sure you choose recommenders who know you well and can put in a good word for you. Also essays are extremely important so make sure you give enough time to work on them.

Hi,thank you for responding. I am indeed planning to retake the test. My target is 700+ so hopefully if I achieve that GMAT score shouldn't be a concern.

For recommenders, I would have my immediate director as one. Not sure about the other. I'll work that out when I get to that stage.

Also, what other schools do you think I should target? Assuming a 700+ score and my objective of getting into MBBs.

Hi ravigupta2912,

Picking up the baton from my Admissionado colleague here! The schools that you should apply to will depend to a large extent on personal parameters like your desired length of program (1 year vs. 2 year) and geographic preference (based on what you wrote, it sounds like you're focused on European programs; are you willing to consider US or Asian programs as well?).

If you're targeting European schools with strong management consulting recruiting relationships, other options that have the strongest international recognition include London Business School and INSEAD.
