Awesome! Thanks for the report!!! Good luck on your test and thanks for sharing ProctorU experience.

PS. I am still of the opinion that GMAC will want to kill GMAT at Home as soon as they can but this is my opinion at this time based on their language and position.

Guys I just booked my GRE and it is awesome.

We could schedule the dates and time of the exam anytime. There were time slots available on the weekend and all the way upto 11.30 pm in the night.

This is legendary and I think GRE along with Proctor U will change the way we standardized tests moving forward. Just the convenience of it all. I am highly impressed.

Thank you bb and You are welcome!

Yeah it will be interesting to see how these industries adapt to the growing demand. But for now I’m grateful that GRE has created this option so that students can proceed with their graduate study dreams.

It will also be interesting to find out the price point of the at-home aka "Interim" GMAT, since GMAC has indicated that it will cost less than the regular GMAT: https://www.mba.com/exams/gmat/about-th ... egulations

Wow fantastic! Good luck on your test.
Are there the same limitations in terms of how many days beforehand you can register for a new test or cancel a booked one?

Well I paid the exam fees and then later got an email from proctor u. There I was asked to schedule an exam. I haven’t yet but I looked at the dates and I could book something up to until after May. I think you need to cancel 4 days in advance. The same rules apply as before.

I assume they will simply revert the price hike, bringing the price back to 250$.

There is no piece of information about how Business school adcoms are going to digest applicants with a "Interim GMAT" Score vs the students who have already taken the GMAT at a test center. How are they going to be compared ?

I think the idea is that they will be considered equal... so you feel they should not be?

Well, the GRE currently costs $205, and the At-Home GRE is the same price, so $195 would be even better from a competitive perspective, in my opinion--and it would encourage more students to try the "Interim" aka At-Home GMAT.

After all, the GMAT is significantly shorter (about 20%) without the AWA, so why not discount the price of the At-Home GMAT significantly as well? It's probably wishful thinking, but a lower price could actually mean a higher profit, if the cost differential compels more students to register for the at-home exam.

We shall see soon! : )

I doubt that but I would obviously love a sub 200$ price tag.

We will have to wait and find out!

Haha a 195$ GMAT fee would be awsome.

You are right the GMAT is significantly shorter than the GRE, which has two essays and an experimental section in its home edition, making it a 4+ hr long exam.

The shorter version of GMAT along with the cheaper price tag would def help them capture student's attention.

Yes, the 7 sections of the GRE (2 30-min essays, 2 30-min Verbal sections, 2 35-minute Quant sections, and 1 30/35 minute experimental section) add up to about 3 hours and 45 minutes (or 3 hours and 40 minutes if your experimental section is Verbal) of testing time.

Add the 10-minute break after the first two multiple-choice sections, and the 1-minute break between the final 3 sections (which can actually be extended longer than 1 minute, if you so choose), and the GRE takes 4 hours to complete.

Hi
Can you please elaborate on how to extend that 1 min break between sections? I thought that the 1 min break was fixed? :shocked

Haha, sure. After each 1-minute break, you have to click on a button to begin the next section of the GRE ("Resume Exam" or something like that). The computer exam gives you the impression that the next section will auto-start after the 1-minute break is over, but you can actually extend the break even longer by waiting to press the "Resume Test" button until you are composed and ready to begin.

You can't get out of your seat during that time, but you most definitely can extend the 1-minute break longer (or at least that was the case when I last took the GRE in 2017). Is there an upper limit to how long you can stretch it? Perhaps, but I've never found that limit--I just use this trick to steal an extra minute or two of peace before the next section begins.

Got it. I suppose we are just twiddling our thumbs while we await more updates from GMAC, since the information about the at-home "interim" GMAT has been very vague thus far.

Do we suspect or know that ProctorU's secure test browser will also be used for the GMAT? Are there any other competitors to ProctorU who might give them a run for their money?

Yes, we are pretty much sitting and waiting for more news... which there is not much. There are other companies that GMAC may use such as examity, proctorio, kryterrion, examsoft, digiexam. But not sure if anyone of these will be used... and no confirmation if they will be using ProctorU. I found another video of how ProctorU works and walks through starting the test and showing ID.

Meanwhile, it seems GMAC is offering their cheapest product (404 Official Questions) to those who have been affected adn whose test has been canceled as reported by pabpinor here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/free-400-pra ... 19846.html
