1) In your case, yes, your score would be invalid from Aug 1,2020. Most schools specify the date (eg. Aug 31,2015) after which you must have taken the GMAT. I'm sure the dates will be mentioned in application portals. If not, inquire with the specific schools. If you have the time, I would advise retaking it because even if your old score is valid for R1, I'm pretty sure it will be invalid for R2 in case you need to apply to schools in R2.
2) I'm not sure but considering the score would be invalid after Aug 1, 2020, I would think it wont appear on your record past that date regardless of when you retake the exam.
3) I suppose it depends. Some people spend months on applications. I suggest you start your applications as soon as they open in May/June, work on talking to students, attending virtual events, writing essays etc. Switch back to GMAT (assuming you are set on taking it in Aug), and get back to polishing applications.
