Fall 2019 Application Essay Questions


  • Essay #1: What is your specific, immediate short-term career goal upon completion of your MBA? Please include an intended position, function, and industry in your response. (word limit: 100)
  • Essay #2: Please respond to ONLY ONE of the following essay topics: (word limit: 500)
    • If you could pack the story of your life in a briefcase with 10 items, what items would you pack and why? Respond in list form.
    • You are asked to design a course to be taught at the Marshall School of Business. Please provide a title and description for the course.
    • You have been hired by the Marshall MBA Admissions Committee to create an essay question for next year’s application. Please state the question and answer it.
  • Essay #3 (Optional): Please provide any additional information that will enhance our understanding of your candidacy for the program. (word limit: 250)

Class Profile

  • Class Size: 208 (Women 36%)
  • Average GMAT: 625
  • Average GPA: 3.25
  • Avg Age: 29
  • Average WE: 6 Years

Program Structure

  • The USC Marshall Part-Time (MBA.PM) Program is designed to accommodate you and your schedule — no matter how busy it may be.
  • Choose between attending class on the Los Angeles campus (Monday/Wednesday or Saturday option) or on the Orange County campus (Tuesday/Thursday) for the first year.
  • Second year classes are held in Los Angeles.
  • You can earn your MBA degree in 3 years (as little as 2 years for those who seek to accelerate and up to 5 years for those who seek a slower pace).

I was told after my interview a decision would be released by 3/15. Does that mean I’m not in? I’m seeing others getting accepted before the official release date.

I was told anytime between Mid-February to Mid-March, so I think its still up in the air whether you are in or not. I'm in the same situation, so i'm crossing my fingers we both get in.

Hi all - any R3 applicants heard any news yet? I know we still have a month until the official decision release, but I hear they tend to start trickling out prior. I am anxiously checking the portal everyday!

I wouldn't sweat it, I think they have a set meeting w/ other staff to discuss next steps.
