15 boys & 15 Girls
Hence, current ratio 1:1
Required Ratio = 5:3
Let the no. Of boys removed to achieve desired ratio be x.

15/15-x= 5/3
solve for x = 6

Given: The are 15 girls and 15 boys in the first grade classroom. No girls are to be added or removed from the classroom.
Asked: What is the least number of the boys that can be removed from the class so that the ratio of girls to boys is 5 to 3 ?

Since girls = 15
Let the boys to be removed = x boys

15 / (15-x) = 5/3
15 - x = 9
x = 6

(A) 4
(B) 5
(C) 6
(D) 7

Solution

    • There are 15 girls and 15 boys in the classroom.
    • Let us assume that b boys are removed from the class.
o So, number of boys left in the classroom = 15 – b.
    • Now, \(\frac{15}{15-b} = \frac{5}{3} ⟹\frac{3}{15-b} = \frac{1}{3} ⟹ 15 – b = 9 ⟹ b = 6\)
Thus, the correct answer is Option C.

1:1= 15:15

Must be
5g:3B

Therefore

3boy :5 Girl
6boy : 10 girl
9 boy :15 Girl

15 boy - 9 boy = 6 boy

Answer is 6
