The given expression will reduce to: (\(\frac{1}{2}\) -\( \frac{1}{6}\)) - As, for every positive value, the fraction also has negative values except the first and last .

=> \(\frac{2 }{ 6 }\)

=> \(\frac{1}{3}\)

After cancelling the terms (2nd to second last)
1/2 - 1/6
= 6-2 /12
= 1/3

(1) Utilize the quick and dirty formula to sum or take the difference of two fractions, which is given A/B + C/D = (AD + BC)/BD
(2) 1/6 + 1/12 + 1/20 + 1/30
(3) Get all fractions into a common denominator of 60 so that you have 10/60 + 5/60 + 3/60 +2/60 = 20/60 = 1/3

Solution:


If we remove the parentheses, we have:

1/2 - 1/3 + 1/3 - 1/4 + 1/4 - 1/5 + 1/5 - 1/6

We see the two terms of 1/3 cancel. Likewise, the two terms of 1/4 and 1/5 also cancel. Therefore, we are left with:

1/2 - 1/6 = 3/6 - 1/6 = 2/6 = 1/3

Answer: C
