KarishmaB bbIs it right to eliminate option D on the basis of the absence of 'The' in the beginning of the sentence? Shouldnt the option be 'The religion of GS'?
I saw the error and eliminated the option right away without reading the sentence ahead. Since I had already analysed that option C was better, I eliminated D confidently.

TIA!
You need to read every option completely.
As for 'the' at the beginning of option (D), I would prefer not having it.
The religion of GS seems to say 'that particular religion' made him a target. What I actually want to say is that his religion made him a target.
In any case, 'and' is an error and that's that.
