Two Brothers: BITS Pilani Alums, Cracked INSEAD MBA

Yes, that is incredibly true. Tarun Mehrotra and Pranav Mehrotra made it to INSEAD MBA– France and Singapore respectively. Whoa!
Yes, at GyanOne, we believe in strong collaboration. But this – it was a result of both collaboration and thorough determination from both the brothers to make it through. Tarun and Pranav, both BITS Pilani engineers, have an unbelievable story to share. They came to GyanOne through our client, Balaji, who is a merchant Navy professional, now an INSEAD Executive MBA alumni. In fact, our client Divya Mahankali, who made it to both McCombs and ISB, but finally chose to go to ISB, has been a common friend. It’s a small world you see!!Two Brothers: BITS Pilani Alums, Cracked INSEAD MBA.

MBA in Canada With Family

Yes you can take your Family with You!
Canada follows US and UK as a popular destination for students who want to pursue higher education. Unlike the US, which has always occupied the no.1 spot, Canada has seen new heights in popularity in the last decade or so. This could be attributed to universities competing globally, student friendly cities, and a healthy, organized lifestyle on offer. Further, considering that many students are rethinking their plans of moving to the US because of immigration laws (though they shouldn’t), MBA in Canada with family looks more attractive than ever. Canada as a nation has always been friendly, welcoming immigrants with open arms, and in fact, is one of the few developed nations where seeking and obtaining a PR (Permanent Residency) is still a good possibility. For the year 2016, Canada holds the second position in a ranking of countries by their perceived image. Given all these factors, the number of Indians wanting to apply to top Canadian MBA programs in Canada is on the rise.MBA in Canada With Family.

Impact of Changing GMAT Pattern on MBA Applications

Changing GMAT Pattern and Its Implications on MBA Admissions
The graduate management admission test is the entrance test that is generally taken if you want to apply for an MBA in any of the business schools. A good score on the test will ensure that you get admission into the university or college of your choice. Constantly changing GMAT Patterns ensure MBA applicants are evaluated on the right skills and knowledge.
While GMAT and fun may not always be used in the same sentence, studying for the exam with a plan will ultimately yield excellent results. Focusing on the four sections and going through various preparatory tests will work to build your confidence in taking the final test.Impact of Changing GMAT Pattern on MBA Applications.

The FinTech MBA: Tech and Finance Come Together at Top MBA Programs

FinTech MBA: Why Should You Consider It?
Disruptive Technology and Finance
Finance has been the most flexible industry and a breeding ground for experiment as an industry with the use of technology. Banking, as we knew in our childhood has changed drastically from the paper use of deposits and withdrawals and long paper trails to keep track of investments. It is the digital era which has transformed the physical into electronic and created new infrastructure for payments, assets and new technologies to serve the retail customers. As per the PwC Global FinTech Report 2017, 82 percent of the interviewed companies expected to have fintech partnership in the next three to five years. The fear of losing out to innovators and small agile companies is pushing them to tie up with the innovators and strategists. The FinTech MBA: Tech and Finance Come Together at Top MBA Programs.

Trump effect on MBA programs and top US MBA applicants

If there has been anything consistent about President Donald Trump, then it has been his inconsistencies! His constant tweets and executive decisions have left people wondering about US’s position on various issues such as Education, Foreign policy, Immigration, and Climate. As Indians do we need to worry about his policies? How will they affect us? What will be the Trump effect on top MBA programs and applicants?
For quite a few generations now, USA has been the top destination for higher education thanks to the quality of education and quality of life that it provides. Further, a look at the QS World University Rankings proves this point as well.If you look at the statistics, there are over a million international students in USA who travel to the US to pursue higher education and of these Indians constitute about 150,000.Trump effect on MBA programs and top US MBA applicants.

Does an MBA Help Entrepreneurs?

While there are several definitions for the word “Entrepreneurship”, the one we like to use the most has been given by Professor Howard Stevenson from the Harvard Business School. He says entrepreneurship is the pursuit of opportunity beyond resources controlled. So, what this basically means is that all entrepreneurs must deal with limited resources such as time, money, human capital and so on. The Great Man theory and the Trait Theory of Leadership say that true leaders or entrepreneurs are born and not made. For instance, Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, and Mao Tse Tung had inbuilt leadership skills i.e. they were born leaders. However, in contrast, we have the Behavioral theories which suggest that people can learn to become great leaders by observing, experiencing and learning. While you may not be born with talents that make you the best leader, we believe that with a little determination, perseverance, and patience, one can learn to be a great leader! So, what about the innumerable programs offered by several universities across the world. Will you be justified in signing up for such a program? What should you look for when you have decided that such a program is for you? Importantly, can an MBA help entrepreneurs?..Does an MBA Help Entrepreneurs?

An Interview with the Schulich MBA Admissions Team: All You Wanted to Know

Interview with Imran Kanga, Director, Schulich MBA Admissions, Canada
Imran shares his detailed insights into how the Schulich MBA program and Schulich MBA Admissions are changing and a lot of initiatives being taken at this top business school in Canada, to help students transform and grow their careers.
Imran Kanga: You are right; a lot of new initiatives have been keeping us busy lately. As a school, Schulich prides itself on creating programs that are relevant to the current market. Our Dean (Dean Horvarth) is very forward thinking, and possesses deep strategic insight. This means that he often foresees trends before they emerge, which allows us to implement programs around these trends early. One such example of this forward looking approach is the launch of the Schulich’ Master of Business Analytics (MBAN) program. An Interview with the Schulich MBA Admissions Team.

McCombs MBA Interview Questions – GyanOne

What is the McCombs MBA admissions committee looking for in the interview?
Deliver a genuine, prepared, and poised interview performance. Thats what the Texas McCombs MBA Admissions Committee advises the candidates appearing for their McCombs MBA interviews. There are four different interview types: on-campus with a student, via Skype with a student, off-campus in your local city with an alumni interviewer, or at a HUB city location with an admissions officer. Interviews typically last anywhere from 30 minutes to 40 minutes. Interviewers do not have access to anything about you or your application, except for your resume, so the interview is blind. Most interviewers check applicants for their confidence, clear and concise communication of career goals, concrete examples of teamwork and leadership, in-depth knowledge of our MBA program, and overall genuine enthusiasm. McCombs MBA Interview Questions – GyanOne.

Hi Muralimohan6661

680 may work for ISB (with a strong app) but will not be sufficient for NUS. Would suggest that you retake and apply with a 700+ to both schools.

For other programs, which geographies are you looking at?

A Second MBA from ISB – Possible?

Considering a second MBA from ISB?
Every year, Indian School of Business (ISB) gets applications from thousands of applicants, a small but not insignificant portion of which comprises applicants who are seeking a second MBA from ISB. The reasons behind this choice could be many – career stagnation, insufficient learning from a first MBA, an industry or function change, or simply a desire to put one’s career on the fast track through a ‘premium’ MBA. All of these reasons (and more) are valid, and in this article we explore the viability of pursuing the second MBA from ISB. We also discuss some advantages and even disadvantages of pursuing that path..A Second MBA from ISB – Possible?

One Year vs Two Year MBA

One year MBA vs Two year MBA – A Detailed Comparison
It is an old argument. The one year MBA can be completed faster; the two year option is more comprehensive; the two year option is the ‘original MBA’; the one year option is part of a ‘rising trend’. We hear these arguments and many more like them every day. The one year MBA vs two year MBA debate is not new, but it rages on every year. Some applicants, without considering all the facts available to them, often decide to rule out programs of one type just because they do not understand all the facts around one year and two year MBA programs. This article is meant to help clarify some of the aspects on which one year MBA programs differ from two year programs. We feel that no format is better; the decision to pursue programs of one type vs those of another type hinges one the applicant’s preferences. Indeed, we have seen many successful applicants consider programs of both durations as well. One Year vs Two Year MBA.

Is CFA Degree Valued During MBA Admissions ?

Few professional credential programs today have the prestige or the recognition that the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from CFA Institute, Virginia, does. Just about 15 years ago, the CFA was considered more of a Western phenomenon. Yet, today, Asian candidates dominate the candidates who take each level of the exam as well as those who clear it. Till about 2010, the CFA designation was considered relevant only for those who wanted a professional career in investments. Today, though, consultants, corporate finance managers, and even general managers are aspiring for this credential. As a result, many MBA applicants too have begun to wonder on the role o the CFA for MBA admissions. Is the CFA helpful for MBA candidates? Are there CFA exemptions for MBA applicants to top schools? This article hopes to address this and many other questions. Is CFA Degree Valued During MBA Admissions ?

China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) is a young school (established in 1994), but it has already created waves both in Asia and around the world. Currently ranked number 11 on the Financial Times ranking of top MBA programs, CEIBS has garnered a lot of attention and interest from top MBA applicants. GyanOne interviews Yvonne Li, MBA Director of Admissions, Marketing and Career Services at CEIBS, to get her perspective on studies, life, and growth for students in the full-time MBA program at CEIBS. This interview will provide perspective applicants with excellent insight into what the program offers. It will also help dispel some common myths around studying in China and the jobs and opportunities available there. CEIBS MBA Admissions Committee – Interview With GyanOne

ISB Application Feedback – How Useful Is It?

ISB Application Feedback – How Useful Is It?
Every year, Indian School of Business (ISB) rejects literally thousands of applicants seeking to gain admission to its prestigious PGP program. While many of those rejected know that they didn’t make it because of a clear factor (poor GMAT score, poor essays, and issues with the quality of the application submitted, for example), many others aren’t really sure. Their GMAT scores are decent and within range for the consideration of ISB. Their essays (at least at first glance and in the applicants’ own opinion) don’t have much wrong with them either. Some have even done (again, in their own opinion) decently well in their interviews. Still, the question remains – what went wrong? Every year, we are approached by many applicants from the previous year who seek to know what they could have done better. While we try to help (by requesting for the actual application and reviewing it, and understanding how the applicant had approached the process), we do often get a nagging question – should I approach ISB directly for feedback?..ISB Application Feedback – How Useful Is It?

Rotman MBA Essays 2017

For the 2016-17 MBA admissions cycle, the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto (Canada’s highest ranked program per the Financial Times full-time MBA ranking) unveiled a new essay. This essay replaced Rotman’s long-standing essay on career goals, and provided an unconventional prompt for applicants. This article provides an analysis of the Rotman MBA essays 2017 and some advice on how to tackle them. While this essay prompt may seem significantly removed from Rotman’s previous essay that focused on career goals, it is really an extension of that essay. As Rotman itself says, it wants applicants to focus on the larger picture, including but not limited to why they are applying for an MBA, and how Rotman fits with their plans.Rotman MBA Essays 2017

MS vs MBA – Which is Better and Why?

MS vs MBA – this is a perennial question which troubles many an applicant as he/she stands at the cusp of deciding on the right program to pursue for further career growth. Should one pursue an MBA just because it is the more popular option? Is an MS instead going to be a better alternative because it will (in most cases) be lower cost? Is pursuing an MBA after MS anyway going to be a necessity?
These questions don’t have simple answers, and many applicants will try to answer them through familiarity (doing what one’s circle of influence has done) or basic research (for example, comparing only salaries for the graduating class between programs and using that as the predominant factor for decision-making). Good decision-making, though, will take into account a number of factors. Through this article, we try and highlight the most important ones..MS vs MBA – Which is Better and Why?
