Given , Retail price=$R
Price including sales Tax=$T
So, %Sales Tax=\(\frac{T-R}{R} *100\)

Hi Bunuel,

Although I got the correct answer but I think question can be more clear by stating that sale tax as a percentage of either total /retail

( Although no option matches with sale tax as a percentage of total cost).

Solution:

We can let x be the percentage of the retail price that is the sales tax and create the equation:

Retail Price + Sales Tax Amount = Total

R + x/100 * R = T

Rx/100 = T - R

x = (T - R) * 100/R

x = 100(T - R)/R

Answer: E
