Overall, your profile looks good.

Academics
Is your GPA on a 0-4 scale? If it is, then 3.0-3.1 would probably be on the lower end for some of the schools you mentioned. A strong GMAT could possibly help balance this out. Try to hit above the average for each school. There are some schools e.g. Bocconi that are quite particular about high GPAs but most schools will evaluate your profile holistically.

Internships
Your experience is across quite a few industries so it would be important to mention how all this relates to a future career in finance/management when you write your essays/personal statement.

Programme choice
Noticed that you are quite keen on finance but have opted for the HEC MiM. There may be a story behind this but I would assume that the Masters in International Finance at HEC might suit your finance theme a bit better. Regardless, there will be finance modules on the HEC MiM too. Just something to consider.

Additional tips
1. Identify your career goals and have a good story of how the masters will help you achieve that.
2. If your future career options are in finance, I would focus on selling the combination of business and computer science that you're studying. Lots of large banks are now trying to compete with traditional tech companies for talent. So your degree combination + masters in finance/management would be a good fit.

Work experience and leadership

I received the highest honors in the French Baccalaureate (high school diploma for all students in France) with a Science major and a minor in mathematics.

Summer 2018: I did a summer internship at Orange (CAC40 Telco company) in the Investor Relations department in my 1st year (3 months and a half).

January 2018 - November 2018: I founded a team of 35 people and ran the campaign (8 months of preparation, 3 months of campaign) to be elected as the Students' Council (30k budget for the campaign raised with sponsors such as banks, NGO etc). We were elected with 60% of the 2600 votes. I was the President of the Student's Council during the campaign and term.

December 2018 - December 2019: During our term, we organized more than 30 events during the year for 200 to 2000 students (integration, trips, conferences, forums, parties, help with classes ...) with a budget of 200k and the help of sponsors. After our term, the Dean of the program created an award called "valorization of associative commitment" which I was awarded with 5 students for our commitment. The award is now given each year to less than 10 students (out of 600 in the program).
During the term, I was a member of the school Boards of Directors and was invited to all strategic committee and seminars, the Student Life Committee (meeting with the Dean of the school and of the several programs to propose ideas and implement them ...). I also participated to the Conference of the "Grande Ecole" where I actively participated for the "equal opportunities" "respect for others" topics etc. My participation then gave rise to the creation of a charter for the respect of others in many schools in France and to the implementation of new practices to avoid harassment.

January 2019 - May 2019: as part of my entrepreneurship class I worked as a junior consultant (part-time) for a promising startup working as a broker in cryptocurrency.

July - August 2019: I did a summer internship in a promising startup working in online education (OpenClassroom)

January 2020 - August 2020: I worked as a Junior Consultant in a Big 4 company. I was in the Tax Department in a team composed of lawyers and economists. My contract is an apprenticeship (I spend the January - August period working full time in the company and during the period from September to December I did my exchange at Bocconi as previously mentioned).

In parallel to this working experience, I helped students in my program to create a Junior Consulting Club which has been incubated by the school incubator. The Junior Enterprise created focuses on advising startups. I am working as a mentor in the club.

I also created Club of Economics which is the first and only club of Economics in the school. I am the President of a team composed of 22 students. We publish economic reports (around 2 each months), pitch stocks, monitor a virtual portoflio (better performance than the CAC40 Index), organize conferences (one each months) and trainings (2 each months) for students with professionals.

September 2019 - December 2020: Online exchange at Bocconi as I mentioned

January 2021 - August 2021: I am still working in a Big 4 company but I changed the department to learn new things. I am now working in one of the team composing the Deal Advisory division.

I will graduate in December 2021 (last semester of school in the period September - December 2021) and will have a 9 months-gap before starting my Master degree in 2022. I would like to use 3-6 months to do an internship. I will try to get one in a UN body, OECD or in a body of the French government.

I also did a Mémoire as part of my last year at school where I had the opportunity to interview famous lobbysts/lawyers working for big law firms or the US government, former EU commissionner, people working at the OECD etc. I hope that I will be able to publish my paper.
The subject was linked to the "Tax challenges arising from the digitalization of the economy".

Community and others

May 2019 - June 2019: I did volunteer work during 2 months in an island in Greece to distribute survival stuffs to refugees living in the camps.
I participate to the Food Bank event twice a year consisting of collecting food and giving it to the Food bank to help people in need.
If I can I will do an other volunteer work this summer (not sure yet)

Post Master goals

I would like to work in the public sector. My dream would be to work in one of the body of the United Nations but I am also considering more "economists" roles at the IMF, WB, OECD, ECB, EU etc.

I know my profile is more private-oriented so that's why I am trying to get a internship in the public sector to be able to talk about it during master interviews (even if the internship won't be over). I hope it's not too late to show my commitment to the public sector in general (which can be seen by my several experiences in Clubs, NGO etc).

My recommenders will probably be:
- The Dean of my program
- A Director (or 2 directors) of the Big 4 company where I work

Before I get into the details, I think it's important to mention that I'm not fully familiar with the nuances of the programmes you've mentioned at SIPA/HKS. MiMEssay may be better placed to give you an assessment. Nonetheless, I'll try my best.

Competitiveness of the programmes
SIPA - As you've pointed out, they usually prefer individuals with work experience. But around 5-10% of admits come straight from undergrad so it is not impossible.
HKS - Same here. Their website says they prefer if you have >2 years of experience, but it's a preference rather than a requirement.

Either way, both programmes are very competitive and it will be challenging. If you're really keen on a masters, I would recommend applying to a few 'safe' schools to spread your risk and manage your expectations. Sciences-Po might be a good option to look at. One of the best in political science, but may value your profile more given they may not require full-time work experience (you would need to check this though, I'm not 100% certain).

Overall profile
Your profile looks good. Academically, you're strong. Your extra-curricular activities show you've been taking leadership roles and working in teams. There's definitely enough there to talk about in your application essays.

One concern (as you have pointed out) is the lack of experience in international affairs/public policy. I know you mentioned that you plan to intern in a public sector role before the masters, but this won't be reflected in your application. So even if you have one by the time of the interview, you'll need to sell yourself as a strong candidate to be invited for the interview.

Selling yourself
Focus more on the things you've done that reflect an interest in international affairs.
1. Student Council work with NGOs
2. Your experience speaking to people when preparing the Mémoire
3. Volunteer work in Greece
4. If you get a chance while you're still working at the Big4, you could try to get involved in the public sector consulting work they do.
5. Mention specific modules you've done that sparked your interest in the public sector - maybe something related to public economics or the interaction between fiscal and monetary policy.
6. If there's a professor at ESSEC who has expertise in public sector work, I would encourage you to ask him/her to write a recommendation instead of the Dean. It would generally hold more weight if an expert in your chosen field sells you as a passionate candidate (compared to the Dean who may be viewed as a 'Generalist').

A side note which is completely optional: maybe you can start a blog/website where you write about international affairs/public policy that you're passionate about. It's important to remember that MPP/MPA/MIA programmes (in general) value the way you convey your thoughts in writing.

I created the Club of Economics in my school, the club publishes macro reports with the economic conjoncture and analysis of sectors, articles, organize conferences, trainings ... Do you think it would be valued the same way as creating a blog/website as you mentionned ?

As you mentionned there are other possibilites (schools, work) if I don't get into one of these masters.

I am thinking of working one or two years to reapply if I get rejected, however my two main questions are the following:

- Will reapplying be a disadvantage to my profile ? Will the school be happy to see that I re applied or could it be harmful to my application ?

- Which type of work will be the most valued ? In my country it is really difficult to work in the government with a Bachelor and International Organization ask for experience. I will probably have opportunities in consulting and in a public-sector practice (probably not a MBB but think Accenture, Big 4 ...). Are this type of companies "enough" even if it is not a MBB or BB bank ?

1. Yes your work with the Economics club should cover that.
2. Reapplying won't be a disadvantage, as long as there has been growth in your profile. If you can show that you've improved from the time of your first application, it's fine.
3. Yes, I think consulting experience will be good. It doesn't have to be MBB. No doubt that MBB has good branding. But an admissions committee is more interested in what you've learned during your work experience. So wherever you end up working, I would prioritise getting involved in a variety of public sector projects where you can demonstrate strong learning growth. Also don't limit yourself to MBB, Accenture, Big4. Economics consulting at more niche firms like FTI Consulting could be interesting.

Hello everybody, could you please evaluate my profile for the best B-Schools in Europe MiM Program.
my profile
23-year old man from India.
I am a Graduate in Bachelor in management studies with SGPA 9.19/10.
Currently, I am pursuing LL.B (Law) with GPA of 8.60/10 currently. (Graduating in 2022)
GMAT score is in range of 640 to 660, (Q- 45 V- 36). I am yet to schedule exam.
I have two internship in market research and in NGO for one month each, one internship in IPR law firm for 4 months.
And I have been factory supervisor for last 12 months since lockdown as our family owns packaging factory.
Extracurricular activities: I have been part of college festivals.
I have a Aiesec letter for global volunteering which got cancelled due to covid.
Can it be counted as an experience?
What are my chances for top mim colleges?

Hello everybody! I will apply next year (R1) for MiM program at different French schools such as HEC Paris and ESSEC and possibly for a MiF program at HEC, ESSEC, ESCP, etc... My dream school is HEC Paris. Can anyone evaluate my profile and give me feedback on how I can improve my future application?

Background and nationality: My name is Bryan, 21 years old and I was born and live in Belgium. My native language is French and I speak English fluently.

Undergrad Information:
I completed my Bachelor in Economics and Management last year and received the following grades: 1st year: 12.43/20 - 2nd year: 14.08/20 - 3rd year: 14.87/20. 2 points I would like to mention is that: first, my school does not provide GPA grade conversion and I am thus unable to compare my academic profile with other students (do you have some experience with Belgian grades?). Secondly, my average grades is partly negatively impacted by my language course (Spanish) where I have a lot of difficulties. Without this course, my average grades increase by more than a point for each year. I also scored with the top grade of my class on financial courses (17/20).
I am currently enrolled in a Master in Economics at my university. For the first semester, I was able to score 16.8/20 and I also had the chance to be a "student assistant" for the course "Applied Financial Instrument" and gave tutorials to students in 3rd-year bachelor.

GMAT/GRE: My GMAT score is the following: 710 Q48V38 IR6

Work experience and leadership: For the moment I did not have the chance to get an internship. Nevertheless, I will have to do an internship next year to complete my master's degree. Concerning leadership, I will talk about this topic in "community and others"

Community and others: I am part of a student investment club managing about 500,000€ of assets. The club invests the money of the members based on equity research presented by the members. I am part of this club since 2018 and I was promoted managing director two years ago. As a managing director, I am in charge of a team of 8 analysts and have to train and help the analysts with their equity research. I am also part of the board and I am responsible for external communication.
I also take part to numerous finance-related event during the year such as the "Career Track" which allows 30 top Belgian students to do workshops with companies active in investment banking and asset management.

Post Master goals: My main goals after my master's degree would be to start working in equity research as a sell-side analyst to acquire deep knowledge in terms of business analysis and valuation. Then I would like to move in buy-side and evolve from analyst to portfolio manager and ideally fund manager. I am really passionate about asset management and would like to work in this industry in the long-run.

Anything else? While my profile seems to be a better fit for the master in finance, I would prefer to enroll in a master in management for different reasons: Students in Master in Finance generally have internship experience and for that reason, my profile would be probably weakened due to the lack of internship on my application. Secondly, I do not feel ready to work in 2 years and I would prefer to continue my studies for 3/4 years before entering the job market. Therefore, the master in management seems to be the perfect program for me. It will allow me to increase my professional experience (with the gap year at HEC Paris for example) while allowing me to have the same courses as in Mif during the specialization year.
Lastly, I would like also to mention that I am studying for the CFA level 1 for 2 years now and I will take it in August. In case I pass the exam, I will most probably emphasize it for my MiM application.

Commencing your profile evaluation, your undergraduate GPA of 9.6 on 10 vouches your academic prowess and the specialisation of your undergraduate showcases your passion for the field of management.

Coming to your GMAT, an overall score of 680 is pretty competitive for the schools that you are targeting such as LBS, Imperial, LSE, and Warwick. Hence, a retake is not recommended in the present scenario. However, I would advise you to polish the other aspects of your profile in the next 5 months as the GMAT score only holds only 20% of a weightage on your chances of getting accepted whereas your profile holds a whopping 50%.

As for your work experience, your 2 years of professional exposure through the internship is pretty decent. However, what seems to be missing here is the brand name and value. That said, you need not fret, you can compensate for this by providing an apt reason as to why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you undertook, and any kind of impact created to showcase a competitive profile.

Since you haven’t provided much information regarding your extracurriculars, I would like to tell you that your extracurricular activities and your other endeavors hold equal importance as AdComs are looking for applicants with holistically developed profiles. Thus, it is essential to shed light on the endeavors you’ve taken up and the varied skills that you developed at the clubs and associations, fest, and events you managed or participated in during your undergrad. Furthermore, you can take up any certifications in the field of management or maybe some volunteering or CSR activities that would help you build your extracurricular front.

Out of the schools that you are targeting, LBS tends to favour applicants with considerable international exposure. Thus, make sure that you highlight any such experiences in your application as this could increase your chance of acceptance. As for your chance of getting accepted in the schools among the dream, competitive, and safe category is listed below.

Dream (around 50% chance of acceptance): LSE, LBS
Competitive (around 70% chance of acceptance): Imperial, Warwick

While you have a competitive profile, to boost your chances of getting admitted to these schools you would need to ensure that you have a very strong application (consisting of - Essays, LORs, and Resume) that highlights your strengths and overshadows your weaknesses in order to differentiate your profile. Hi guys, this is my profile.

Male, Italian, 22 years old.
Currently pursuing a double degree in Business and Economics between an Italian and a Dutch University.
Italian GPA of 29.1/30 (1.2 into German grading system).
GMAT 640 (Q46V31) - To retake
600 hours internship at the entrepreneurship center of my University; developed a startup project, raised a few thousands of euros of funds and received different prizes.
+2 years of volunteering in a global service organization.
2 years of students representative activity.
Two semesters abroad in the Netherlands (because of the double degree).

I'll apply for the MMM - Mannheim Master in Management (English track).
How would you assess my chances?

The selection process considers:
- Max. 60 points for GPA (I'd get 56/60 with a 1.2 GPA);
- 22 points for semester abroad (I'd get 22/22);
- Max. 60 points for GMAT (3 points for any 10 points over 600; I'd get 9/60);
- Max 6 points for internship and relevant extracurricular activities (I'd get 2 or 3 points/6);

Total score: 89/148.
Do you think that's enough?

I am a 23 y/o male from India. Please review my profile and suggest

Engineering Graduate (B.Tech, Mechanical Engineering) from one of top 5 engineering institutes in India. CGPA - 7.2/10.0

Haven't given GMAT yet but am confident of a 720+ score based on mocks

Working as Data Analyst in MNC since 8 months (August 2020). Leading a project as well as reporting to senior management.

Extracurriculars -
Lead a team of 100+ members as part of core committee of annual technical festival. Organized guest lectures (from Nobel Laurates to Entrepreneurs and Bureaucrats)
Part of the college dance team representing in national level competitions

Social Projects -
3D printed prosthetic arm
Affordable industrial pulse mill for farmers

Post Master Goals -
I love working on projects wherein I get to solve problems. I'm rooting towards consulting but would love to hear suggestions.

Question -
1. Chances for MiM in LBS, HEC, St Gallen
2. What would be better - Going for an MiM now or waiting another year and trying for an MBA in US ? (considering i have both options)
3. I will also be taking CFA Investment Foundation certification exam in Sept. Would that be good enough for my profile or should I try for CFA Level 1 ?

I am planning to apply for some business schools to start studying a MIM from 2022. I would like your honest reviews on my profile, in accordance with my target schools.

So far, I plan to apply to:
- HEC Montréal
- Bocconi
- Nova SBE
- Stockholm SE
- Copenhagen BS
- Warwick
- Maastricht
- Erasmus Rotterdam

An overview of my profile :

Education:
- Bsc in Economics and Management : Aix-Marseille University (France, #101 in economics on QS Rankings). GPA: 12,2/20, equivalent to 3.0/4.0
- Last year (currently) in exchange: Linköping University (Sweden, #401 on Times Rankings): Slightly higher GPA

Professional Background:
- Part time job: Corporate Relation Officier, in a Business Center (France) for 6 months
- Waiter in England for a summer
- Student jobs: employee in a supermarket for a summer

Volunteering and activities:
- Ex-athlete at a National Level in Cyclism and Swimming
- Organization of a 3 months English course for people with mental health difficulties.

Other relevant infos:
- 21 yo
- Gmat in preparation (expected score (620-660).
- I will do a 6 months internship in a consulting firm from July , probably in South Africa
- I aim to become a consultant in management, before starting my own business (consulting company with a focus on green change management)

Do these schools look coherent with my profile or should I lower my ambitions?
Do you have any advice about schools that I should target?

Beginning with your profile evaluation, the brand of your undergraduate college - ranking among the top 10 colleges in the UK, gives your profile a boost as schools tend to pick out applicants from the top schools of each country. However, your expected GPA of 2.1 will be on the lower end and so you will need to have a strong reason to back it up. You can use your voluntary participation in any of the extracurricular activities or research projects or maybe some health issue that you encountered during that period to build a strong alibi. However, with a GPA of 2.1 you can be targeting all schools you’ve shortlisted except for Imperial, as it is very GPA centric and would need at least an aggregate of 8.0 GPA.

Coming to your extracurriculars, you have a lot of varied roles in organizing cultural activities and volunteering for social causes, which are impressive value additions. Highlighting how these roles have helped you grow and influenced your life would help put together an impactful application.

Furthermore, the international exposure that you possess will differentiate you from the crowd and will definitely act in your favour as most schools are looking to add diversity to their cohort.

Moving forward, you have taken up numerous internships in diverse fields ranging from Software Engineering to Product Management. Furthermore, the presence of big brands in your CV is an added feather to your hat and will thus increase your chance of acceptance. Here, showcasing your journey and the learnings gathered through this experience would allow you to differentiate yourself and thereby gain an upper hand with equally competent profiles with extensive work experience hailing from equally good brands.

I wish to apply for the top MiM programs - 2022 intake. I'm confused as to whether I should give the GMAT again. My AWA score was v.bad and I'm aiming only for the top 5 programs.

Graduation: CG: 7.83/10, B.Tech, NIT Surat (tier-1)
Job Exp: Business Analyst, 7months ( Oct'20 - present)
GMAT: 700 ( V 35, Q 49, IR 5, AWA v.v.bad )

Have done 2 internships in college, one technical in an SAP Consultancy firm and the other one in an HR consultancy firm.
Took management electives in college: Marketing, personnel management and also done online courses related to Business Analytics.

Position of responsibilities: Head of the electronic department student club, Hostel managing committee among other things.

It would be great if I could get an idea as to how much of a shot I have at the top 5 MiM programs.

Hello everyone,

I wanted to kindly ask you all for a short profile review.
I am currently 19 years old (male) and will be 20 by the time I finish my bachelors degree.
My GMAT online score is 680 (Q 47, V 36, IR 4)
My GPA (bachelor in economics - in germany) is approx. 2.9-3.0. (German scale 2,2). I know this is pretty low.
I am doing my bachelors degree while working with a big4 firm (dual program).
Furthermore I am attending an innovation workshop for startups.
TOEFL expected >100

Schools I am trying to get into are:
-ESCP
-Bocconi
-Essec
-IE

Hey everyone
I would like to know my chances at MIM , MIF or business Analytics

Nationality - Indian,21

Academics- always been in top 10% of my class
ICSE,10th -95%
HSC,12th-90%
Bachelors of management studies- 9.5/10(expected)

Gmat - 650
IELTS/TOEFL - not given yet but won’t be a problem

Work experience- have worked in my family business for past 3-4 years. It’s a gold jewellery manufacturing business and we are one of the top players in the India. My job is to handle one of the new factories with around 50 workers. Besides managing I also handle few direct sales from the factory.

I started an event management business with my cousins in 2018. We managed/organised a few events for Mahindra(car launch), aaj tak(news channel), Beauty pageant in Bali and few other events. Due to family reasons the company couldn’t be registered under my name but I can provide letterhead to tell so.
We had to shut the company due to COVID.

Extracurricular- I was head of a committee at college cultural festival.

Leadership position- handeling a factory
Event management company of my own
Cultural festival head

Career goals- I want to expand my family business beyond india. We have already captured Indian market good amount and I would like to Try out market abroad. I want to study market there, create market there and manage a business abroad. I plan to work for sometime after getting a degree to get international experience but my major goal is business

Can you tell what would be my dream and competitive colleges

Hi, I am a 21 y/o(Indian), finished my undergrad and I want to apply for a Masters program(mainly Mim/MBA) soon. I graduated with just above average grades(not that great), and a pretty average college as well. However, I have done an internship for 2 months from a pretty prestigious mutual fund company, and I am currently working in a big company as well(for just about 5 months), in the field of supply chain finance. I want to write GMAT, by the end of this year. I really want a 700+, and I know how difficult that can be but I know I can do it, I think it's my only way of boosting an otherwise dull resume. With a good gmat score, knowing my current resume, do I stand any chance of getting into a good college? I just want to know if there's anything else I can do to help bolster my application.

Also, considering both my internship and job have been predominantly finance based, would an MIF be a better choice than an MiM? I do know quite a decent amount about finance, but I don't have any diploma/profession certificate specializing in finance. Any help would be very much appreciated!
