Hi guys,
I've been lucky enough and got accepted to three great programs. Your thoughts on where to attend are highly appreciated
Background:- International applicant from Eastern Europe. Will be looking for jobs in the US post graduation
- Current role: finance manager in corporate finance/F200 firm, and I've done part-time investing for the last 5+ years
- Target industry post-MBA: investment management (equity/credit research). I know it's competitive to break into, so sellside research and probably banking are my backup plans
Wharton+ Arguably best brand both in the US and internationally, largest alumni network
+ Often considered top school for finance, and pretty much everyone recruits there
+ I like their dynamic culture and active student involvement on campus
- Highest price tag, no scholarship money
Booth+ Another great school for finance with a strong quant reputation that employers respect
+ Probably the winner in terms of culture, very welcoming supportive students and alums
+ 20k/year in scholarship clearly never hurts
- Probably slightly below Wharton in terms of brand
- More of a Midwest-focused alumni network, and the least known brand outside the US (I'd like to stay in the US after graduation, but I'm still an international passport holder)
Yale SOM+ Great culture, and a very tight-knit and supportive community
+ Everyone and her aunt knows what Yale is (my parents vote Yale
), strong reputation outside the US
+ 20k/year in scholarship
- Newest MBA brand, and is behind Wharton and Booth in the rankings
- Smallest class with less recruitment into finance on campus
I don't think that Yale with 20k/yr beats Booth with same scholarship. Both have great cultures, but Booth has a very strong reputation in finance and is probably a winner for me here. Re Wharton vs Booth, I'm slightly leaning Wharton because of brand and the breadth of alumni network. In terms of culture, I've been impressed by the pay-it-forward culture at Booth, and Booth is a winner for me here. However, I like Wharton's vibrant culture quite a lot as well. I've got no preferences on where to live for the coming two years. Going through the welcome week sessions right now, but I expect no surprises here.
Thank you guys in advance!
