V49-50 seems impossible even with 1 mistake...

The Verbal is quite steep at that level. I got 1 incorrect counted question and saw my Verbal drop to V48.

All the best.

GMATWhizTeam thanks, will check out the video later tonight!

gmatknightDOTcom wow that's harsh. I'd be really happy with a V48. Currently doing all the GMATPrep 600+ SC questions on the forum, to cover the ones that didn't show up in my practise tests. I usually get all the CR & RC correct, so far have got max 1 RC wrong/test. It's the SC that tends to be a bit random, specially if it's an idiom question I haven't seen before or a long complex one while I'm screwed on time. Thanks for your reply.

What matters is not only the number of questions you get correct or incorrect but also the difficulty of the questions you get correct or incorrect.

For instance, if you get three easy or medium questions incorrect, your score will be lower than it would be if you got all the easy and medium questions correct and three hard ones incorrect.

So, one takeaway is that it's important to be careful to avoid making careless errors that result in your getting easy or medium questions incorrect. It's one thing not to figure out how to arrive at the correct answer to one of the hardest questions, and another to whiff a medium one that you could easily have gotten correct if you had been more careful.

Hey MartyTargetTestPrep, thanks for your reply. Makes sense - my last practise with the 1 mistake that got me a V47 was a relatively easy RC. Worst part is that I kind of knew I was wrong immediately after I pressed confirm. The obvious answer felt like a trap and I made up a 'convoluted story' to justify the other option. Well, the silver lining is that now I'm aware I'm prone to do this and will try to avoid doing so on the actual exam.

You've given me great advice on the TTP chat as well and I've gone through your debrief and most of your blog. Thank again! :)

Cool! I'm rooting for you to put it all together and get them all correct.

Always a pleasure!
