Hi
prefshares, based on your profile this does stand out as a surprise, however I don't think it's necessarily a red flag. You've demonstrated academic preparedness with the strong GMAT score and undergrad GPA - so that's a fantastic start. The IR is really a measure of your ability to interpret data and navigate complex problems, which I expect you can demonstrate through your IB and hedge fund roles. In your essays and resume I encourage you to demonstrate dealing with the complexity. Your recommenders can be an additional source of demonstrating your ability in dealing with complexity.
Also, if this wasn't your first GMAT, what were your other IR scores?

For reference, I had a 4.0 undergraduate GPA from the University of Georgia. I majored in Finance and Accounting. Went to do bulge bracket Investment Banking, and am now at a large hedge fund.
Target schools = Stanford and Harvard.
Will my low IR score be a red flag? Th two test takers beside me started on their essay sections right as I was starting IR, and it was difficult to focus with their keyboards clicking. Should I consider retaking in order to bring my IR up?
