Name - Nirupa
Indian, Female, 28
Target GMAT - 700+
Education - Bachelor in Engineering-8.7 , Diploma in Engineering-8, 10th-75%

Work experience - 6.5 Years
1. worked as Software Engineer at US based InsurTech fortune 500 company and at Healthcare and FMCG automation and technology company.
2. Co-Founder of handicraft social e-commerce startup, founded and registered in 2019.
I am from village where most women knows needle and thread art but not able to earn money because of lack of platform, technology and investment. We are helping these women earn money.
3. Partner at Import export and trading company
I am helping farmers sell their produces at price higher than MSP(minimum support price) by removing middleman layers.
4. CURRENT ROLE-Freelancer as Lead Software Engineer at LogiTech Startup

Why MBA?
I have gone had many corporate experiences and managed my startup over the years, but I learned everything in a try and error manner. Now I want to take a step back and use the MBA program to gain skills(management, strategy, marketing) in an academic setting.

Short Term Goal: To become a product manager in an AgriTech startup.
Long Term Goal: Social Entrepreneurship in AgriTech industry
Born in farmer’s family and being a tech person myself, I knew that in India and many other , farmers don’t have technology, data and advanced tools to make better decisions and ease the agriculture processes. My goal is to transform the agriculture industry through technology and improve farmer’s lives

Target Schools: M7, Haas, Yale, Duke Fuqua, Tuck, Ross, Said, Judge, NYU Stern, Insead, HEC Paris, ISB, Babson

Questions-
1. which college and program should i go for which will help me achieve my long-term goal(Entrepreneurship in AgriTech) ?
Any other colleges you want to suggest?
2. how can i highlight my strengths – Leadership, Community involvement and what do you find weakness in my profile? Suggestions you want to give to improve my profile/CV?
3. do you find my personal story strong and compelling enough?
4. I want to join AgriTech startup soon after my MBA and pursue my entrepreneurship career later down the line in AgriTech itself.
I am not sure if school will find ’join AgriTech soon after MBA suitable (because generally tech company comes into campus but not specifically tech company that works in agriculture sector) or Shall I still present this as my short term goal in my SOP? If so, how do I make sure it doesn’t look odd in the face of the AdComs.

Hi NirupaD,

Thanks for sharing your profile and MBA aspirations.

My name is Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO.

You have a very interesting profile! From what I can see:

Academics – good GPA. Good luck with your GMAT attempt!

Work Experience –You have a very different experience which is good! You have worked in a Fortune 500 company, Freelance in a Start-up, and co-founded a socio e-commerce start-up- AMAZING!

Extracurricular activities/Volunteer Work – Schools look for a well-rounded profile. Mention more about your hobbies and interests.

Your career goals – It is good to see you have a well thought out career plan but it is a bit niche owing to ‘Agritech’ sector.

School list – M7, Haas, Yale, Duke Fuqua, Tuck, Ross, Said, Judge, NYU Stern, INSEAD, HEC Paris, ISB, Babson

Answer to your queries:
a) GMAT plays an important role and that is still speculative here. Also, Agritech is not a very common concentration, so you can also look at schools that are known for entrepreneurship or tech courses. Schools with a strong alumni network will help you achieve your career goals.
b) Your work experience is your strength. The narrative should involve your learnings and the impact that you wish to create. For weakness, we do not see anything in extra-curricular. Try including the same appropriately. Also, ensure quantifying wherever possible in your CV. :)
c) Yes, the story is good but as said it is too specific. We need to also think on the lines- Why this school?
d) We suggest sharing your CV with us so that we can plug in the gap between your goals and the virtue of the schools.

All in all, sounds like you have a good profile! If you send me your CV once you are done with your GMAT on PRIYANKAK@ARINGO.com, I would love to connect you with our CEO who will be happy to help further with a detailed review and perhaps work together on some amazing apps.

All the best. :)

Hi AlphaKilo,

Thanks for sharing your profile and MBA aspirations.

My name is Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO.

You have a very interesting profile! From what I can see:

Academics – good percentile in B.Tech. We would like to understand both - the reason behind the second MBA and more details on the executive education for multiple global schools (are they certificate courses?). Micro-master from MITx is a good example of continuous learning.

Work Experience –You have rich experience including leadership and international exposure. We would love to see your resume to understand your employer, career progression, roles and responsibilities, the impact of your work, achievements, etc. 😊

Extracurricular activities/Volunteer Work – Dance school with partner + Community work 6 NGOs- WOW!

Schools & GMAT- Well, your GMAT is just at par with the class average of Judge and Said but Kellogg’s class average is 730+ so that will be a bit of stretch. So, if you think you can improve, a retake will definitely make your profile stronger. In case this is the best that you can get, the score is decent enough to try in both Judge and Said. Also, we will be able to give better insights once we have your CV and clarity on your career goals.

All in all sounds like you have a very good profile! If you send me your CV and other info on PRIYANKAK@ARINGO.com, I would love to connect you with our CEO who will be happy to help further with a detailed review and perhaps work together on some amazing apps.

All the best. :)

Hi Priya,

Thanks for sharing your profile and MBA aspirations.

My name is Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO.

You have a very interesting profile! From what I can see:
Academics – M.Tech from IIT (good GPA) + 760 on GMAT- Well, you have a stellar academic record. :)

Work Experience – Your experience is good with a variety of roles and in a company like Adobe. Also, strong international experience is another added advantage. We would love to see your CV to understand your career progression, roles, and responsibilities, the impact of the work done, etc.

Extracurricular activities/Volunteer Work – Your extra-curricular are interesting and having a volunteer experience always adds more value to your profile (even if it is not with an NGO).

School list – Well, your experience is on the higher side than the class average of a few schools like IMD, Haas, and on the lower side for the schools like LBS Sloan, etc. https://www.aringo.com/top-mba-programs/. We will be able to give better insights into the school list once we have your CV and clarity on your goals. With your extensive experience, you can also consider applying to the programs on the following page: https://www.aringo.com/mba-over-30/.

All in all, sounds like you have a good profile! If you send me your CV on PRIYANKAK@ARINGO.com, I would love to connect you with our CEO who will be happy to help further with a detailed review and perhaps work together on some amazing apps.

Your international experience is another point that makes your profile stronger. Also, as you have worked in both a start-up and an MNC- you must be having good stories for your essays!

Hi Nj97,

Thanks for sharing your profile and MBA aspirations.

My name is Priyanka, Client Manager at ARINGO.

You have a very interesting profile! From what I can see:

Academics – good graduation score and GMAT score- Well done!

Work Experience – Your profile is an absolute fit for the MSc finance course (you have good internships too). However, for MBA, yes, your work experience is on the lower side but most of the schools do not have minimum experience as criteria. So a lot depends on the kind of impact you have done on family business and your current role in the FMCG company. If the impact is not very significant, MSc in Finance is a more suited program.

Extracurricular activities/Volunteer Work – Schools look for a well-rounded profile. Please include your hobbies and interests. Any volunteer work?

All in all, sounds like you have a good profile! If you send me your CV and other info on PRIYANKAK@ARINGO.com, I would love to connect you with our CEO who will be happy to help further with a detailed review and perhaps work together on some amazing apps.

All the best. :)
