Our pleasure. I would look at a few schools such as NYU Stern (reach), USC Marshall and Indiana Kelley to get you started.

Just double check to make sure those schools that are on your list accept students already with an MBA!

Good luck,

Stern and Marshall encouraged to apply despite a prior MBA. Kelley said it is highly unlikely to get admitted into their program with a prior MBA.
If I look for business schools ranked between 16-25, would that increase my chance of getting a scholarship?

Yes, of course. Generally speaking, the lower the ranking, the more likely it is that you will receive scholarship money. Based on your profile, I would even expand beyond T25. I think there are a few issues with your profile that will make it harder to get money from T15-T25 school.

Good luck,

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to get into product management with the likes of Google, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, Facebook. So need some inputs on the kind of B-Schools that I should target.

A brief bit about my profile:

You have an overall great profile including some solid work experience and extracurricular activities.

The biggest issue, which I'm sure you already know, is your GMAT score. Coming from a competitive demographic, a 670 will make things quite difficult. If you can achieve 30 more points on your next attempt, that would help. An additional 60 points (which I know is a big ask) will open up a ton of doors.

Assuming you don't move up your score, I would look at schools such as Georgia Tech (Scheller), Carnegie Mellon (Tepper), USC (Marshall) and Indiana (Kelley) as those would also fit your career goals. If you improve your GMAT, we can start looking at schools higher up and in geographies even more conductive to PM roles at these tech companies.

Thank you so much for your inputs and feedback. Improving my score on GMAT is the immediate step that I have already embarked upon.

I believe that will help me with my chances of securing a good scholarship amount as well.

Regards.

Hi The awesome person at Admissionado

So I retook the GMAT and scored 700 this time (Q-48, V-38, IR-7). How would this change the list of schools that I should realistically target now?

Regards

Congratulations on the new score!

I would still keep the schools I mentioned in my previous post on your list. Having this score of 700 improves your odds of getting in (it wasn't a guarantee you would with the original score.)

You could also now add schools like Georgetown (McDonough), Cornell (Johnson), Washington (Foster) and UCLA (Anderson). Those are great programs that will be a good fit.

Please reach out if you need more support,

Thanks Admissionado!

Also, just for a Plan-B of sorts (which many schools ask even in the essays/application), which of the recommended schools would be best-suited for opportunities with MBB (Consulting)?

The two lists I have provided you with are good for consulting. If you drop down any lower, you are going to have a hard time recruiting for MBB. That's not to say you wouldn't get in, but those firms tend to go to the top programs and so without that baked-in network you are decreasing your chances.

Good luck - please reach out if you need additional help.

Hi Admissionado

So I retook both the GMAT and the GRE and here are the scores:

GMAT - 710 (Q-50, V-35)
GRE - 332 (Q-166, V-166)

Should I look at applying to some more colleges based on these scores?

Thanks!

Congrats on two great scores!

Yes, that should open up some nice options for you. I continue to like Cornell (Johnson) and Georgetown (McDonough) but you should also add UCLA (Anderson), Duke (Fuqua), and Michigan (Ross) to get you going.
