By the way, 1 is also a factor of 256. With all respect, I think the problem is not properly worded. It should ask for the largest number in the group that is not prime, not necessarily under 500 (for example, 17 * 17 = 289 is under 500 as well but doesn´t appear in the answer choices).

Are you sure, that we need a prime number? we need only a product of primes.
