Re: A certain company has budgeted $1,440 for entertainment expenses for [#permalink]

A certain company has budgeted $1,440 for entertainment expenses for the year, divided into 12 equal monthly allocations. If by the end of the third month, the total amount spent on entertainment was $300, how much was the company under budget or over budget?

A. $60 under budget
B. $30 under budget
C. $30 over budget
D. $60 over budget
E. $180 over budget

1440/12 = 120 a month

For 3 months,
Budgeted spend = 360
Actual = 300

You are under the budget by 60$

Correct option A
Under the budget = less utilized than actual
Over the budget = More utilized than actual
$1440/ 12 month = $120 / month,
for 3 Months utilization must be $120 x 3 months = $360,
but utilization was only $300, which is less than actual estimate to be spend
Correct Option : (A) $60 under the budget
