For those who have already given their interviews, did you receive case study or guesstimate questions during your interview? If yes, how did you prepare for those?

Hi Rathijanhavi,
The panel can ask you anything they want, so guesstimates can very well be asked in an interview. Generally, they are a must-do only for consulting candidates, where it is usual for them to be asked guesstimates and case studies. Product candidates on the other hand are asked (Mini ) product cases and some guesstimates in the guise of substitutes, competition and new entry.
YouTube has abundant material on both (some from ISB also), would recommend you to go through them if your goal is consulting or product!

Yes, there have been a number of such questions asked already. Victor Cheng’s videos are a great source for these type of questions in addition to the book ’Case in Point’. Even at ISB, we used these to prepare for Consulting interviews. Though a bit time consuming, these would help you outside b-school interviews as well to develop a structured thought process.

What if I’m from a non-consulting background and have consulting as my goal? Is a Case study still a ’must-do’?

A very strong good-to-have. It is about having consulting as a goal, regardless of where you come from.

Yes, as covered in the messages above. These were for admissions interview only, majorly for folks who want to get into consulting.

I need guidance in preparing my application. Any suggestions on some good source for this? Also I might need some help in my SOP evaluation.

How much weightage does ISB gives to your IR score? Like overall i have got a 720 but my IR score is 4. Wondering if it would have an impact on my application shortlisting

Hi RaunakDaga,
Though there is no official word from the school about it (IR score), it is expected to be very minimal for ISB. As long as the other elements of your GMAT and profile are fine, you should be good to go. Good luck :)

Is 720 a good score for an EEO Candidate or should one try to improve it? I’m planning to apply in Round 2

Hi Preppie, Thanks for this. Can you throw some light on what kind of questions are expected in the interview for people who have post mba goal as marketing?

Or any one has any idea of what kind of interview question they ask for a person who wants to get into marketing post mba. Any case studies ?

Hi Priyan25, : For people who want to seek career in Marketing post MBA, prep should include the following:
Questions to gauge clarity in your goals:
1. What sort of transferable skillsets will you leverage from your experience so far in a Marketing role post MBA
2. What kind of firms you want to get into post MBA.
3. What excites you about Marketing?
4. What is your take on influencer marketing? Do you believe it is a long-term trend or just a short-term burst?
5. What is your understanding of Product led marketing? Provide some examples.
Situational questions / Case studies:
6. Compare and contrast Marketing strategies of CRED and Zerodha
7. Imagine you are hired as a Marketing manager in Tesla India for their EV category. Explain the marketing roadmap you will create.
8. Shahrukh Khan was temporarily removed as brand ambassador for Byju in the recent past, and he was reinstalled after a few days. As a marketing person, can you explain the rationale of Byju when they made these decisions.
