Re: Ballet dancers warm up before each performance by doing a [#permalink]
B or C.

In B, 'which' refers to exercises ( plural) so the use of 'reduceS' is wrong.

Hence C.

Unfortunately we do not have a second chance in the real test.

Ok, I think it should be A
'it' refers to warm up

'which' in B refers to exercises which is wrong
D and E 'routine' refers to...?

Why am I the only one attracted towards D? It in A does not have a clear antecedant. it could be warm up, it could be performance or it could refer to the stretching excercises.

In D defining the warm up before each performance as the routine, I think makes sentence clearer.

a) exercises, and it reduces
b) exercises, which reduces

c) exercises, reducing

d) exercises; the routine reduces
e) exercises; so the routine reduces

The sentence can be rewritten as

Before each performance, Ballet dancers warm up by doing a series of plies and steching exercises; the routine reduces chances of injury.

Before each performance is a phrase(here a modifier) which is modifying "Ballet Dancers".

I think C is wrong because it creates a sentence fragment like

Before each performance, Ballet dancers warm up by doing A, reducing B.

D stands out

Correct me guys...I am confused here about how to eliminate C

C. Ballet dancers warm up before each performance by doing a series of exercises, reducing the chances of injury.

D. Ballet dancers warm up before each performance by doing a series of exercises; the routine reduces the chances of injury.

Well, on a second thought D is much better and sound better. To me, well now, it seems that there is something missing in C, like ‘hence’ or ‘therefore’ before ‘reducing the chances of injury’.

Though, I believe, we need better explanation as why not C?

One more D.

We should pay attention to semi-colon whenever we see one in GMAT.

D looks good....I agree with you auro....I've always seen the semi-colon as the correct choice ( I am sure it's not always like that but from my experience)
