Hi TheSeeker60,

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your profile looks good on the surface. Starting with the stats, your GMAT is quite good, but I recommend retaking it if possible and aiming for a 730+ to improve your chances of admission to top b-schools. Regarding your work experience, you did not provide many details, but I feel your 6 years of experience must include stories of leadership, impact, and career progression. Furthermore, if you have strong work experience, it may compensate for your GMAT. Your ECs should represent different aspects of your personality; make sure your stories reflect this. If consulting is your post-MBA goal, there are several great b-schools to consider, including INSEAD, HEC, LBS, Kellogg, and so on. I'd like to learn more about your profile, such as work experience, career progression, achievements, impact, etc, to assess your chances better and guide you on b-schools. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and shortlist b-schools for you. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Cheers!

Great background! You definitely stand a good chance at at least getting an interview with HBS. A few points:

(1) Your ECs are good, but not spectacular. Yes, it will look weak if you just started it a few weeks ago. I would de-emphasize this in your application.

(2) Refine your career goals. You have an idea on the short-term what you want to do, but your long-term goal must be more clearer. "Having an impact" is not going to cut it.

(3) GPA seems a little tricky. With a 770 you should be fine, but it's not your strength, which is okay.

My team is happy to discuss with you in more detail, if you're interested in talking to a professional consultant.

Good luck,

Hi Virginie,

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your profile looks good on the surface. Starting with the stats, your undergrad GPA seems quite low, but 770 GMAT will help you compensate for it. On the work front, I can see career progression and achievements, aspects of leadership, and international experience, the latter of which matters more if you can demonstrate how these experiences have helped you professionally (or personally). Talking about your ECs, don't worry if you haven't moved mountains in this area; simply focus on the strong areas of your profile, and you'll be able to talk about the activities you've been involved in with dedication. Regarding your post-mba goals, I would suggest making them more defined and solid. Overall you have a good profile and a decent chance at Harvard if you present your application well. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the b-school. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.

Work Experience:
2.5 years as data analyst at a mid-size pharmaceutical company

You have a great profile, but I'm not quite sure I'm not sure Harvard is within reach. A few issues:

(1) Your GPA is very low even for undergrad med school. That's tough with HBS having a 3.6+ average.
(2) Your GMAT score is great but for a male Indian candidate it's below the recommended threshold of 730.
(3) Your career goal is fine, but could use some work (that can be fixed/refined)

By all means apply, but make sure you have a few other schools on your list just in case. We recommend that for all students as HBS is extremely difficult!

Hi amitsingla,

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your profile looks good on the surface. Starting with the stats, your undergrad GPA is low, and you have a quite good GMAT score. You can't go back in time and improve your GPA, but you may compensate with a high GMAT score. Also, for HBS, a score of 730 or above is recommended. I suggest that you strive to increase your score. Your work experience appears to be good. You didn't provide many details, but you should be able to give examples of leadership and impact. Your ECs must represent different aspects of your personality. Make sure that you project it in the same manner. Your post-MBA goals require clarity. I'd like to learn more about your post-MBA goals in order to assist you in connecting the dots between your prior work experience and your post-MBA goals. Hi Pari123,

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your profile is amazing. I can see many elements in your profile, which will help you craft impactful essays. To begin with, your GMAT score is excellent!! Congrats! On the work front, your work experience appears to be excellent, packed with leadership, impact, and each project or work of yours contributes to the growth. Speaking about those experiences will assist you in showcasing yourself as a high-performing individual. When listing your work or responsibilities, choose the most impacting one. Your achievements and volunteer work are once again remarkable. The admission committee's goal is to have as many viewpoints and as much diversity as possible in the class. As a result, speaking about all of these things with the right enthusiasm can assist you in bringing diversity to your profile. Your post-MBA goals seem to be very clear. Try to link them with your previous work experience, and your priority in your essays should be to explain why you want to pursue a certain program and how a specific business school would help you reach your goals. INSEAD, LBS, Columbia, Kellogg, Booth, and MIT are excellent choices for consulting.

Overall, your profile is strong, and you have a pretty good chance of admission to top MBA programs. The most important aspect of your application is how you connect the dots and tell a compelling story to set yourself apart from the other applicants in the pool. I suggest you start preparing for your application early, your profile is amazing, and it will take a couple of months just to brainstorm. We have an extensive content gathering process where we just spend hours brainstorming to set the story’s theme and narrative. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with your sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the b-schools. Unfortunately, HBS is unlikely to be in the cards for you. Despite your excellent extracurricular activities, your age and GMAT, especially for a male Indian candidate, is going to be too high of a hurdle.

If you are able to retake the exam and score a 730+ you should be in a better position for HBS, though it will still be a tall order. I am concerned that your profile, as is, will make it tough to even get an interview.

I don't mean to be harsh but I don't want you to spend time on one of the hardest programs to get into when you can consider others that are more attainable.

Hey, how degree treated take at human sciences school? Is it Bachelor's? Furthermore it's not satisfactory, why you target Harvard: your objectives fit all main 20 b-schools. With respect to your assets, your mentorship for outsiders and local area exercises will be a decent resource, in the event that you can exhibit positive effect (how treat show youth and how this further developed their variation in unfamiliar climate? would you be able to give great genuine models and results?)

Hi krajahaj:

Your profile checks many boxes so you should get a look at several of these schools. The key for you is to find a way to truly differentiate yourself. You come from a competitive demographic which will unfortunately make things slightly more difficult for you than others. A few pieces of advice:

(1) I would rethink consulting as a short-term goal. It's a little overplayed.
(2) Write really killer essays. That's going to be the difference for someone like you between acceptance and waitlist/denial.
(3) You're not really a candidate for 1-year MBA programs given your profile. I would apply to the full-time program.
(4) Your extracurriculars are good but not outstanding. If you have time permitting, I'd get more involved or join something else.

Please drop us a line if you'd like to discuss further:

Hi krajahaj,

Thank you for sharing your profile. Your stats are pretty amazing, your undergrad GPA is good, and you have a solid GMAT score. This exhibits your academic potential. Since you haven't shared much here on the work front, I'm assuming your professional experience is rich with leadership and impact. You'll need to demonstrate your career progression, the impact you've had, your achievements, and many other things.

Regarding your ECs, they are good. You may share stories about them and how you contribute to the community in many ways. Your hobbies are interesting. As you enjoy exploring new places, you may create interesting stories about the places you visit, etc. Your post-MBA goals are quite generic. Recognizing the importance of management and seeking an MBA is merely the first step. But then you have to consider why you need those management skills, where you want to apply them (which sector), and how an MBA would help you achieve your long-term goals. As a result, you'll need to fine-tune these goals, and we'd be delighted to guide you and try to solve your stumbling blocks. You may want to read an article on how to differentiate yourself in your MBA application essays; you will get the knowledge that will help you increase your chances of being admitted into the desired Business school. Overall, you have a good profile and a decent chance of getting into the b-schools you've chosen. What matters now is the framing of your story and application, which should set you apart from the pool and explain why they should choose you over others. If you’d like, we are happy to hop on a call with you sometime this week to discuss your profile in length and further chances to the b-schools. Feel free to book a free session with us as per your convenience.
