When you say I've cleared the major hurdle, does that mean that Stern only invites people that have reached a significant stage of their evaluation?

Yeah, stern invites very few applicants to interview compared to other schools. Between 70% and 80% of those interviewed are accepted.

Congrats guys. Ill be attending stern myself this fall. The interview is very laid back and conversational. Not to beat a dead horse but I think at that point they are guaging fit more than anything else. It lasted about 30 min. Its not blind so they will have read your application.

What is the general "vibe/fit" of Stern? Is it more relaxed and friendly? Especially compared with Columbia, which I hear is competitive aka cut-throat.

I thought NYU was more GMAT-centric than other schools.

Congrats on the interview johnny!!

Yeah, those BW forums seem a little…"competitive". To put it gently. Also, does anyone else have problems navigating that site? Seems like the interface is horrible to me.

johnnyx9, are you going to a class? I think I'm going to some Bankruptcy class. Looking forward to it.

I like Stern as a program and I've liked nearly all of the students I've spoken with there. Seem like pretty laid-back folk. Still trying to gauge if the program is the right fit for me, however.

Thanks kidderek.

Naturallight - I actually will be attending a class called "Corporate Finance." Because of the availability, the only way I could manage a class and an interview on the same day was by scheduling for late in the month. I would have rather just done it next week but there was no way to set it up such that I would go to class before the interview and still manage to make it back to Boston that night. I'm not sure how important it is to visit a class, but there's no way I want to walk into an interview without having sat in on a class first.

I don't like the BW interface either, and the topics or threads go on forever. I don't know if that's more typical of how message boards work but not a big fan of the site or the abrasive people that seem to hang out there and bash each other.

Congrats! And Relax, the hard part is over. Once you have an invite your chances are extremely favorable already (compared with most other programs)

To tell the truth, I'm still in shock. I was not expecting this.

I'm just planning the accomodation now. We'll see about the interview.
