Hi all,

I am thinking of joining a B-school and start preparation for GMAT. I have a PhD in Physics from an Italian university and B.E. from one of the top universities in India.Currently I am working as a scientist in a reputed lab in the UK. What are my chances of getting into top B-Schools even lets say with a GMAT score of 650-680. Also Is it worth doing an MBA for a PhD graduate.

Hello prady1991 hope you are doing well

I agree with the previous comments.

If you plan to continue working in the same industry but wish to pursue a more business management-oriented track or leadership track, an MBA could provide you with the skills you need in a structured manner. However, you must evaluate your motivations thoroughly and present a conscientious plan to convince the MBA admissions committees about your candidacy (mid-term and long-term goals in perspective). An argument that does not present strong reasoning for "why MBA, why now" would not be conducive to a positive outcome. On the bright side, as a Ph.D. and a scientist with international work experience, you would be a differentiated applicant during the admissions process and may get into a top B School even with a 680 on GMAT (although a 700+ score is ideal for a top 20 B School).

Best wishes

Your unique background can be very attractive to consulting firms while recruiting. I think you should do some research regarding the kind of consulting projects that might align with your background.
