Okay, thank you so much
Also, does MIM have a good value? In terms of placement, role and salary as well?

Hi shashwatdave08

For recent graduates who want to work abroad in entry-level management roles, MiM can provide an opening wedge to set up an international career. MiM or other Masters' programs are highly regarded, especially in Europe where traditionally speaking MBA is more of a recent phenomenon. Although more and more geographies such as the US and Canada are also now getting on the bandwagon and offering MiM programs due to the increasing demand, the most prestigious and high ranking MiM courses are offered by European schools such as HEC Paris, LBS, ESSEC, ESADE, St, Gallen, IE, LSE and Imperial (masters programs), and so on.

Just as how MiM courses are most valued in Europe, the flagship PGDM courses offered by IIMs (popularly known as 2 year MBAs) are most valued in India. If you plan to work in India in the short to mid term, having an IIM branding on your resume would make you more likely to grab the attention of recruiters than having an MiM degree. In the long run, however, having relevant experience and a good career trajectory carry more value than the degrees on your resume.

Best wishes

Is doing MBA from good B School in India better or doing MIM abroad?
What are your thoughts on Fresher's MBA that many colleges offer abroad for recent graduates?

Hello shashwatdave08,

Thanks for writing in.

If you get into the IIM's and ISB, and wish to pursue your post MBA career in India, then it makes more sense for you to do an MBA from an Indian business school. Of course, if the idea is to settle down in a different geography, then the MiM makes sense.
Definitely, the MBA would hold more value but it eventually boils down to your priorities and timelines. So, if you do not wish to delay the process and want international exposure, as well, you could opt for a MiM program.

Good luck!

I know it’s quite difficult to choose between studying in India and studying abroad. Which one is better between these two is a debate that has been going on for years now. But what you need to understand here is that you should choose between studying in India and studying abroad based on crucial factors like your profile, your interests, your future objectives and obviously your financial situation.

If your profile is fit to study in the top B-schools abroad, you intend to work in bog organizations abroad and if your pocket allows you to Study Abroad then there is nothing better than that. I always suggest doing MiM abroad in comparison to doing MBA from an Indian B-school because I know that there are various benefits that you can obtain from studying abroad.

Here are the main advantages of doing MIM abroad:
Good universities can give you access to top global companies
Global connection opportunity is something very beneficial for searching for jobs and other career-related opportunities ahead.
Any degree abroad would give an edge to your CV and you’ll be more preferred than anyone who stayed in his/her home country.
Entrepreneurship related opportunities and skills are something that global universities abroad will teach you better than Indian universities.
Practical learning and internship opportunities in well-recognized companies abroad would expand your outlook and even if you return to India. The skills you would have gained would be something more than commendable.

Here are the job-related prospects after MiM in a university abroad
The weighted annual starting salaries of students from the world’s top ten schools ranged between $78,000 (Imperial College Business School) and $113,000 (University of St Gallen). 88-100% of students were in employment three months after the course.
The salaries of MiM degree holders in the US are around $70,000 for those with less than a year’s experience, $84,000 for those with five to nine years of experience, and progressively more for senior professionals with more experience.

These are the best B-schools offering MIM programmes:
    HEC Paris, France
    ESSEC Business School, France/Singapore
    London School of Business, UK
WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management, Germany
    ESADE Business School, Spain
    ESCP Europe
    Universita Bocconi, Italy
Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, Netherlands
    CEMS, Europe

Getting an admit to these B-schools itself is an accomplishment and if your profile is good enough to apply to any of these then you should definitely go ahead with it without a doubt.
