MananS4G, pls share what should be our strategy? Two main points to consider here- 1) no. of days the GMAC requires to share the official score card 2) amount of time required to fill the ISB form, Essay LOR etc

The time gmac takes isn’t of concern much since ISB accepts unofficial scores for app submission. However, it won’t verify (for completion) until official acore is reached. The app prep time is 1.5-2 months in general where you go with multiple reviews feedbacks from whoever you’re working with. If you’re prepping for GMAT, then start app in parallel to ensure you’re not starting from scratch when you finish it by let’s say Aug.

Happy to do an AMA session if you guys want. If someone can set it up then would be good. Needless to say, all pro bono.

Last week, I did over 20 1-1 sessions with folks who couldn’t make it to their target B-schools in the last admissions cycle. Few recurring themes across schools such as NUS, ISB, Rotman, Ross, etc.

- Sense of regret: this hurts me the most. When you feel you could’ve given it your best but somehow you (our your Consultant) didn’t

- No focus on the application form: The notion that the B-school applications are all about essays is deeply flawed. If you get the essays written by someone else and that someone else doesn’t review your application form (job achievements, responsibilities, etc), then it sends a clear signal to the adcom that these two parts of the application are done by two different people.

No matter how good your profile is, if you couldn’t be bothered to know what’s there in your essays or even attempt to write them, then frankly you shouldn’t be at a B-school

- Lack of goal clarity: You put a goal that sounds cool wrt the school but your past experience AND motivations are totally misaligned with it. This shows in the interview and hence, the ding!!

- Lack of fitment: With a 309 on GRE and a tech-focused profile, there is an almost zero chance you’d make it to the likes of ISB, especially in R3. Profile evaluations with 2-3 folks BEFORE you pay are key!

I’ll be having these 1-1 discussions again (for FREE of course!) starting Sunday through the week. Sign-up if you’re interested.

MananS4G, would you recommend starting to consult people for your profile while one is preparing for GMAT? (I am aiming for ISB, graduated last year and have been working for 10 months)

See the application process (if done right and not getting essays written from someone) requires ~1.5 to 2 months, that would entail 2-3 calls, 5-7 essay versions. Hence, if you’re aiming to take the GMAT anytime till mid/late June then focus only on that. Otherwise, start the application process in parallel to ensure you are not at scratch in the event of a re-take by mid July.

Yes, would suggest you start working on the application in parallel. Although priority should be GMAT.

Hey Manan, I don’t see any open slots for the calendar you’ve shared. Is it completely filled? Or is there any open slot?
