Embedded Question

In the exercise set 18 for GMAT Club Ultimate Grammar Book V2.0, I wanted to understand how one sentence is correct and the other one is not.
The following information question had to be converted into an embedded question.

Q. How do you do this algebra homework?
A. Could you tell me...........?

My answer: Could you tell me how you do this algebra homework?
Correct Answer: Could you tell me how to do this algebra homework?

My intention is not to question the veracity of the answer provided in the book but to understand how my answer is incorrect.

Hello, Revivean. Your answer is not incorrect, but it is more conversational, as it repeats the you element. Grammar exercises are typically written with teaching points in mind. I could just as easily see the question being posed as Could you tell me how you would do this algebra homework? This might be a bit more emphatic than the correct answer above. An isolated question like this would not be tested on the GMAT™, so I would not worry too much about it. Learn what you can about how to use the infinitive form of a verb and move on.

Though both the answers (yours & book's) are correct the later one is more conversational.

The best free resource I have come across is no other than GMAT Ninja's Sentence Correction Resource Collection, as close as you can get to a one-stop-shop without practicing questions on your own. (Also, I am not affiliated with the GMAT Ninja team in any way. Charles is just one of the most highly respected Experts on the site.)
