Can someone evaluate my profile for IIM A PGPX 2023-2024 ?

1. GMAT - 740 (Q50, V38, IR 6)

2. Undergrad GPA - 3.65/4, MS GPA - 3.66/4 - Both from a top 5 engineering college in the US in Computer Engineering

3. First Authored a publication nominated for best paper at an international conference as part of my MS thesis.

4. Extra Curriculars : National Level Quizzer in high school, but nothing since college.

5. Work Experience - 10 months in a startup in the US as a Software Engineer.
- Partner in my family business for close to 3 years now. I help to manage the family business and in essence act as a director(although got my DIN just 2 months ago)

6. CBSE Class X - 10/10 GPA, CBSE Class XII - 95%. AIEEE AIR - 3910 (I don't know if stuff before college counts for admission).

I got 760 on the GMAT online but just got 740 in the test center version, which IIM A cares about. Now I am feeling uncomfortable regarding my chances.
Should I retake GMAT and apply for Round 2 ?

With a 740 score, I don’t see the need to retake GMAT. However, will you be able to meet the minimum criteria of 4 years of experience? Also, a lot will ride on how you portray your experience and how you set yourself apart. Do think deeply on why you need an MBA now and how your experiences have nudged you towards MBA.

2. Undergrad GPA - 9/10 from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham

3. Published 2 IEEE international papers during Undergrad.

4. Extra Curriculars : Lead Organizer at college for several events, founding member of an NGO, and organized customer workshops at Oracle

5. Work Experience - 4+ years oracle - significant visibility in my business segment division and team

6. SSC Class X - 9.5/10 GPA, CBSE Class XII - 95.8%

Have good awards and recognitions but keeping in mind that average work ex at IIMA PGPX is 8 years , what are my chances and what else should i highlight in my profile ??

Any suggestions please....

While the past scores, GMAT, extracurriculars all check the box, the more qualitative details are barely touched upon here.
What is your nature of work, what has been the career progress, what are some of the key achievements and most importantly what are the post MBA goals?
These will play as big a role as other details shared.


You may want to read here on what factors work in a profile and here to add to your research on career goals.

I am unable to find the info on the IIMC and IIMB program pages

Hi Aditya,
The MBAEx SOP question is "This should include an objective and clear statement on why you want to join the MBAEx programme?; what qualities, experience and achievements do you have to justify your admission; what types of jobs and at what level do you expect after successful completion of MBAEx?". The word limit is 500 words.

The EPGP SOP question is "Provide an essay detailing your purpose in taking up this course of study at IIMB, including your future aims. The essay should be around 600 words and should be in simple and direct English and preferably typed in a readable format."

Hey Aditya,
I haven’t seen anything specific on this anywhere in their website. I think it’s best not to address it to anyone in particular, or maybe to use a the general "To whom it may concern".

Thanks for ur reply, yes I know GMAT is a must, say i give GMAT 3-4 days before the deadline and while applying i mention my score as per the unofficial score recieved on test day. Will it work? that is my query

prepGirl, If it is mandatory, I think you can pick something closely related to your expertise for the the 2nd and 3rd options.
