I will have to leave in less than four months to manage - and ship stuff sooner.

Which having only found out yesterday and having to do the visa thing and everything, will probably be quite tight for time.

Schools start at such a different time in the US. It looks like I will be living in NYC for my birthday this year.

I have about 40 vacation days left so I'm not yet sure if I should cash those or just take the last couple of months off.

The good thing is that since they know I'm leaving, the company is reluctant to give me any major projects so in some ways, my vacation has started already...

That is awesome. I'm so jealous.

I'll probably be leaving at the end of July. I have about 40 vacation days left so I'm not yet sure if I should cash those or just take the last couple of months off.

I will be working until the day before the first day at Fuqua.

Since I am working virtual, I can still work from Durham.

As someone already voiced out, I cannot afford to be out of work for a long period of time.

what really sucks is that my company gives out the annual bonus on Sept 30th. I will miss this by only several weeks!!!

So you get nothing? That blows! Can you work something out w/ them?

Yepp! that really sucks!
But then, my company is laying off another 10k, so I don't really expect much of bonus this year.

I asked my boss whether he can put me on the layoff list.
He said that I am on the promotion list so that it would be very hard to make that happen.

SON OF GUN! I have asked him so many times to put me on the promotion list. He always have said "the time is not right"
Now I want to be laid off (there is a nice layoff package), and he is saying that finally I am on the promotion list and he cannot lay off me????

Wow, I didn't think the 40 days would be such a cause for surprise :)

Working in the middle east has its perks.

1) No income tax
2) Great vacation. My dad gets 45 days per year!

I get 30 working days per year and have 10 outstanding from last year. I'd probably be burning quite a few bridges if I decided to utilize all 40 days though . But money works just fine right now :)

I am getting so bored! Do not find it challenging anymore. I wish I could go out and travel the world in the next few months or do some pro-bono work somewhere remote.

I do not mind paying for it either. As long as I can learn something valuable from the experience.

I would love to work in Eastern Europe or Eastern part of Russia (Vladivostok)! But the visa will create a BIG problem!
