3x + 7y = 9

7y = 9 -3x (Isolate the term 7y on one side)

y= 9/7 - 3x/7 (Divide both sides by 7)

y = mx + b => y= (-3/7)x + 9/7

m= -3/7

Answer: B

Another solution is, find points on X and Y axis where this line intersects them, by substituting x=0 and y=0 respectively in the equation of line. So two points on line found this way are (0,9/7) and (3,0)

Hence slope of line = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1) = (0-9/7)/(3-0) = -3/7

Hence ans B.

For a general equation
ax+by+c=0

the slope is = -a/b

so it'll be -3/7

the equation of a slop is y=mx+b

then y=-3/7X + 9/7

hence slope is -3/7

The easiest way to determine the slope of the line is to put the equation of the line into slope-intercept form, which is y = mx + b, where m = slope and b = the y-intercept. We must rewrite the given equation 3x + 7y = 9 to get y by itself on the left.

3x + 7y = 9

7y = -3x + 9

y = (-3/7)x + 9/7

Using the general slope-intercept form of y = mx + b, we see that the slope m = -3/7

Answer B.
