Hi everyone,
I am here to seek advice on my GMAT performance and on the next steps I should take to improve my score.
I am:
Female
Indian
Chartered Accountant and CFA
6 years of experience in Controllership and Business Finance
FMCG and Mobility Industry
I want to apply to top US MBA programs in R1 2023 (September deadlines).
I started studying around late-July last year. My GMAT mock scores were:
GMATPrep 1: 570 (Q37 V31) (Cold Mock) (24 July 22)
GMATPrep 2: 640 (Q42 V35) (13 Nov 22)
GMATPrep 5: 650 (Q44 V35) (27 Nov 22)
GMATPrep 3: 690 (Q45 V38) (03 Dec 22)
GMATPrep 4: 720 (Q49 V40) (12 Dec 22)
GMATPrep 6: 720 (Q48 V41) (14 Dec 22)
My official score on my first attempt was 690 (Q46 V38) on 21 Dec 22.
I was aiming for a 720 and I decided to try again.
I was able to figure out that I needed to work on the Quant and increase to a Q50 and keep the practice going for Verbal.
I took
TTP to help with Quant, went through the complete course, studied all the material and completed all the tests. Meanwhile, I also kept up with the Verbal prep through
OG, 1000 series and LSAT materials. After giving a few mocks and getting around 730 with an improved Quant, I decided to take another attempt.
I got a 630 (Q48 V28) on my second attempt in April 2023. I was devastated.
I got an ESR again and found out that my verbal split was worse than the first time. I decided to work on my verbal and get back to my first attempt levels. I took the
E-GMAT study guide because I wanted to improve my Verbal to my first attempt level (V38).
I gave another 1.5 months of prep and was getting around 760 and 770 respectively in official mocks (I remembered questions, so was not exactly expecting 760 in the real one) and ~690 in
MGMAT CATs (2 of them).
I gave my third attempt on 1 June 2023.
The third one was GMAT online and I scored a 660 (Q47 V34). I am defeated and depressed and not able to decipher why my mock scores are not translating on the real GMAT exam.
Can someone please help me understand what is going wrong and what do I need to do to get the same success as mocks in my real GMAT.
