Although the school has not announced anything, it is safer to go for the older (current) GMAT. Though IIMA still has to come out with its admission policies for the 2023-24 application, HBS has announced that it will not consider the focus edition. Safer to stick with the current edition for now.

Hi,
The GMAT focus edition is expected to start testing by the end of the 2023 i.e. Q4 2023 . If you plan to apply in the upcoming cycle R1, then there is only one option i.e. the current GMAT as IIMA Round 1 deadlines are usually end of August every year. In addition, IIMA might not consider the home based test scores so when you schedule your test do take up the appointment for the centre based GMAT.

IIM A did not even accept at home gmat score, I feel they will go HBS way for this year of not accepting focus scores..

IIMA PGPX and IIMB EPGP dates are yet not available. Sharing updates from IIMC and IIMK below:

IIMC MBAEX 2024 Application Deadlines are:
Round 1 - June 30, 2023 - August 17, 2023
Round 2 - August 18, 2023 - October 12, 2023
Round 3 - October 13, 2023 - November 23, 2023

and,
IIM Kozhikode PGP BL 2024 Intake deadlines are:
Phase 1 - 30 June 2023
Phase 2 - 31 August 2023
Phase 3 - 20 November 2023

I have a doubt. I am going to take my gmat exam on 26th June. If i have to take a retest, can i take another one in july and then apply to IIM's or do they have any restriction that only gmat score before july is acceptable.

Hello,

As of now there is no such restriction on the dates as you mentioned. IIMC had earlier mentioned that they would accept the online GMAT test scores taken on or before 30 June 2022, but the current cycle FAQs are still getting updated.

However, if you are keen on applying to the IIMs then write the in centre GMAT test, not the online GMAT test. Additionally, you should plan the test date so that you have your official score report with you by the time you submit the application. We are not yet sure that IIMs will allow applying with the unofficial score report.

Restrictions on date of exam are imposed by some of the IIMs - Bangalore, Calcutta - incase you have taken the GMAT online. No constraints are there on the dates if you are taking the test at test center as long as the date of exam is before the round’s application deadline.

IIM-A does not accept online GMAT at all. IIM-B accepts it if it has been taken before the date promulgated by them. Last year cut-off date for acceptable online test score by IIM-B was 30 Jun 22.
