There are none in the OG for Data Insights Review either.

I'm going through the DS questions in the Data Insights Review question bank, and some of them look different from what we're used to.

A total of 20 amounts are entered on a spreadsheet that has 5 rows and 4 columns; each of the 20 positions in the spreadsheet contains one amount. The average (arithmetic mean) of the amounts in row i is Ri (1 ≤ i ≤ 5). The average of the amounts in column j is Cj (1 ≤ j ≤ 4). What is the average of all 20 amounts on the spreadsheet?

(1) R1 + R2 + R3 + R4 + R5 = 550

(2) C1 + C2 + C3 + C4 = 440

That's an old question: https://gmatclub.com/forum/a-total-of-2 ... 28454.html

Oh. I thought it was a description of the question  - I thought in the question bank there was a spreadsheet with 20 amounts in 5 rows and 4 columns :facepalm_man: :facepalm_man: :facepalm_man:

Re: GMAT Focus Edition - Everything You Need to Know [#permalink]
Hello experts, interesting thread. Been lurking on this one since a long time. Gmat focus is a godsend for me as I have tried EVERYTHING and I can't do SC.

Few questions -

Question 1 -
Did any expert get some insights by experimenting with the gmat focus official prep that was released?

Question 2 -
Does the question bank mirror the question bank from legacy official prep 1 and 2?

Background
I have used legacy official prep gmat prep mocks 1-4.
The questions from 5-6 are fresh for me.
Trying to figure out will gmat focus official prep 5-6 be new for me in such a case?

Question 3 -
Does admission consulting experts have any insight if GMAT Focus will be used for admissions this cycle?
Or schools are not considering it like HBS at all.
What's the general trend?

I am speculating since GRE is releasing there update early, GMAC would not want to loose this cycle's monies and will speed things up and we can see the exam early Q4. Competition is a beautiful thing.

It's very disappointing that of all 67 questions in the GMAT Focus Official Starter Kit, there is not a single "logic-based" Data Sufficiency question.

My GMAT Focus 2023-2024 official guide bundle finally arrived in the mail today, so I can now also confirm that there aren't any logic-based DS questions in the entire GMAT Official Guide 2023-2024 or in the Data Insights guide. Additionally, none of the GMAT Focus questions in these official materials appear to be new—just recycled classic GMAT questions from previous years.

It seems that GMAC wants us to think that there are new question types on the GMAT Focus, when in reality there are not...at least not yet.

This "logic-based" DS thing might just be a last-minute attempt for the company to improvise a new question type. Maybe GMAC got caught flat-footed with the (valid) criticism that the test really hasn't changed at all, other than the shorter length, the altered scoring system, and the removed / rearranged sections, so it's in the process of testing out a new question type that isn't yet featured in any of the practice materials—all of which are confirmed repeats of prior GMAT questions?

UPDATE: I was able to access the GMAT Focus Practice Exams 1 and 2 using this link and this link, instead of directly through my mba.com account.

I clicked through both Data Insights sections, and did not find a single example of "logic-based" DS.

Granted, the Data Insights section is now adaptive as well, so I did not see all the possible questions. However, this certainly brings into question GMAC's transparency about this supposed new question type.

If GMAC had planned to include logic-based DS questions on the GMAT Focus the whole time—and it weren't making things up as it goes—wouldn't we see at least one example of this type of question somewhere in the official practice materials?

Can anyone please confirm if GMAT™ Focus Practice Exams 1 & 2 and GMAT Prep exam 1& 2 are same in question except for the pattern? Or there are new questions in GMAT™ Focus Official Starter Kit

They are the same old questions.
Granted, GMAT prep test wanted to have a very large question banks and it’s possible that maybe there is one or a few new questions were added, we have not been able to run into them yet….

I don't think there are any, and for sure there are no DS Verbal questions.

I know it sounds weird but this is all about. No new questions - at least in the main OG

I went through one by one

The following is from my ebook

Thank you carcass for the confirmation. I almost placed an order for OG after I read about "verbal DS" question...

Yet, indeed, I do not see any geometry questions in PS and DS now. That is a noticeable and meaningful absence. Do you see any other absences that are noteworthy? Thanks again!

I reckon the following sir

1) before drawing any conclusion about these new OGs I would wait we go through every single OGs (four in total)

2) In terms of contents the questions are more or less the same so the balance is fair. However, what surprised me was the DS count: IF I am not wrong, doing simple math in 2022 we had 240 (239) DS and now just 104 DS questions.

3) following the second point, I would wait to scan the DI guide. Then the debate will be rampant I guess

maybe they really focus on the new specific guide. I do not know

Hello carcass , did you happen to complete the comparison of DI guide with existing OG's / Review books?
Is there any thing new in the DI guide viz. DS verbal questions?
