I personally would take the job. It just shows what a professional consultant you were if a client offered you a job....

I agree with Lorenzino. However, I would try to make sure I would be getting one reco from the new job and one from the previous one, so I would not want to burn any bridges. Ideally, the recos would be from your current boss (at the time of application) and your previous boss. If that's not possible you could always get 2 recos from the new job, but that may be less than optimal.

and I agree with lepium... if you show that you can still get a reco from your previous boss then there's no reason whatsoever this could be perceived as a bad thing :)
