Ok, starting a thread for each of the schools I'm applying to (hope that's ok) and didn't find one for this year (Fall 2008) yet.

Who else is applying? I'm going for R1. I live right next to the school, so I'll be visiting quite a bit, talking to student clubs (already went to their excellent infosession), hopefully meeting some adcom people, etc.

If anyone is visiting in the area, let me know (post here or PM me), maybe we can meet up and discuss!

good luck with this one. Last year we (G'clubbers) had all dings except for a guy with a W/L. I don't know what happened in the end with the waitlisted guy, though.

Agree with lepium, S is a tough nut to crack...maybe even tougher than H. I applied last year and was dinged WO an interview.

So good luck and all the power to everyone who applies. I visited the campus and loved the location.

Wow, S is not getting too much love from GMATClub ! Is it because of S not showing any love to GMATClub last year?

kryzak, you and grad_mba seem to be the only ones applying in R1 (So far). I may lock horns with S in R2 (And get as much use of your experience from R1 as possible).

mNeo - if ur planning on Stanford, i strongly suggest that you shoot for R1 .. thts exactly what the students specifically told when I was there on a campus visit ..

Thanks for the suggestion, grad_mba. Yeah, I've been trying to see whether I can finish my other two apps by late Sep. That'll give me almost one month for an S app (A month seems to be the minimum that I'd have to spend on this tough app).

Anyway, grad_mba, where you at? We should help each other out.

Stanford will be a dream school to get in, but I understand my chances (I might as well go pull some slots in Vegas to try to retire early! =P I'm definitely applying R1 to maximize my chances and make me stand out a little more (since I'm in an impacted demographic). I hope being an alum of the school might give me a slight edge.

I'll be working on Stanford's app LAST, after Berkeley and UCLA, so I'll have enough practice by then. But I'm beginning to brainstorm the essay questions already.

a quote from one of the adcoms i read somewhere -

"I cannot guarantee that you will be admitted if you apply, on the other hand, I can guarantee that you will not be admitted if you do not apply"

haha, I have heard that... I think the adcom person giving the infosession said it too. speaking of which, Stanford has a VERY professional and good infosession.

Hrm... it was a while ago, but they emphasized the flexible curriculum that they're using for Fall 2007. I don't think I learned anything that I couldn't have learned from the website, but it was my first infosession, so I didn't have that many questions to ask. If I find anything in my notes after the GMAT test this weekend, I'll post them.

Anything specific you wanted to know?

I haven't found any yet.

What kind of questions does the adcom think are not dumb to ask in the infosessions?

I'd love to go to Stanford, but I think that my efforts are best spent on other schools.

Dumb questions are usually defined as questions that can easily be answered by checking the school's website or brochures.

However, I wouldn't hold back any questions I had at an info session. After all, info sessions are not evaluative (i.e.: they won't write down comments next to your name). You could make a good impression, but that's highly unlikely. Most likely, you'll be forgotten right after the info session.
