On the Great Plains, nineteenth-century settlers used mud and grass to build their homes, doing it without timber and nails.

A settlers used mud and grass to build their homes, doing it without
B settlers used mud and grass to build their homes, did it without
C settlers used mud and grass to build their homes, making them while not having
D settlers used mud and grass to build their homes, making do without
E settlers' homes were built of mud and grass, making do without


Please explain your answer.

what a weird questions..


i narrow it down to A & B and will pick "B" between the two.

why? ..it just sounds better :-D ( i fixed my car, did it without the help of a mechanic).....(i fixed my car , doing it without the help of a mechanic...thats s weird...am still not fixing it...)

does it make any sense? ...i hope so :)

C,D,E all have weird sentence construction.

D sounds right to my ear, but I agree that the question is weird to say the least.

THis one is a weird one

A/B refer to it, but you don't know what IT is

C is ambiguous because you don't know what them is, the homes or the settlers?

E is wrong because the homes didn't make do... it was the settlers

D is right. I agree though, this sentence is retarded lol. I think it was in one of the books, and I of course got it wrong at first...

Wierd..... lol i was like WTF???

Elminated E b/c making do w/o doesn't refer to the homes. the settlers um made do without lol.

I chose C only to realize right after, I saw that them doesnt have a proper referrent.

Then I said D b/c making do without lol, is this right???

Wut is OA?

A) Wrong. Doing it???? (a dangling pronoun)
B)Wrong. Did it without??? (dangling pronoun)
C)Wrong. Making them??? (them doesnt refer correctly to any noun)
D)Sounds good
E)Very ackward sounding.
