Why 4 rounds? Rhyme, I know you applied last year, what was your feeling on the process specific to Cornell?

I'm not Rhyme, but Cornell admitted me with more money than rhyme, so I'm gonna go ahead. :-D

I don't know why they have 4 rounds, but here's how it seems to break out:

Rounds 1 & 2 are akin to the R1 of your regular 3-round school.

Round 3 is like the other schools' R2.

R4 = R3.

Cornell's R3 still has all of the same scholarship opportunities. As far as the competitiveness of the various rounds, R4 is obviously the hardest, as the final round seems to be for all schools. And there's no money involved; why bother?

I asked a few students about R1 vs R2 vs R3 in terms of competition. One guy said that R2 and R3 are essentially the same. I wasn't anywhere near the application stage in R1, so I didn't even bother to ask.

that's my take. Not overly helpful, but it seems that few schools really share much about the relative competitiveness of each round. They all prefer to say, "submit your app when it's ready."

Do you know if these are the correct essays for the new app, or if they are last years and they will be changing?

1. Describe your greatest professional achievement and how you were able to add value to your organization.

2. What career do you plan to pursue upon completing the MBA and why? How will the Johnson School help you achieve this goal?

If these are the essays for the 2007-2008 app, I will post them on the thread with all of the application info. Thanks!

those are the ones from last year. but they could be re-using them. I should think they'll be released soon (if they haven't been) as their R1 deadline is so stinkin early.

I'm not worrying about scholarship money, as I'm a borderline candidate for Cornell. Do you think a 670 will keep me out? White, male, 25, fashion industry exec., want to stay in industry?

agh, who knows? I'm horrible at that guessing game. You seem to be coming from an interesting background and have attained a good position. You're a little young, and your GMAT isn't totally top-notch. Check out Cornell's averages - it's good to be above average, and at least in the middle 80%.

I also have a 670 (Took the test today) and want to shortlist some realistic schools for myself. I hope I have a realistic chance in Cornell.

Looked up on Cornell website yesterday... the application for 07-08 has still not opened up.

and its August already.. or did I miss something?
