anybody worked on the "outsider" essay yet?... i'm stuck clueless on that one

I am interpreting this question to be similar to the HBS culture shock essay. I'm going to write about my first trip to China and how I initially struggled to connect to people there but adapted quickly to be successful in my project.

Does anyone think it will be a problem if my culture shock essay and failure experience are the same experience? I am going to try to separate them as one had nothing to do with the other.

It will be really great if you can come with different scenarios for those essays. It will give you a chance to expose various facets of your life.

Talking about the same situation in 2 essays, well .. may make you look concentrated.. just my 2 cents.

I think that you should use the two essays to talk about two independent experiences. These essays are giving you a chance to show as much about your life and experiences as possible. Writing about the same experience may 'incorrectly' hint that you lack the experiences to derive from.

Is anyone else attendng one of their admissions events? I will be attending the one in Atlanta on September 26th...seems like the best way to meet current students, alums, and admissions directors since it's 2 hours for just people from Wharton.

So for my outsider essay, I wanted to talk about when I visited my parents' homeland 7 years ago. Ya think that's too long ago?
