If I am interested in working in Canada and the US after getting my MBA, would it be in my best interest to get my MBA from a school in the US or UK?

Going to a US school would definitely be easier in that you would be recruited by American companies. If you went to a UK school, I expect that most of the companies hiring on campus would be British or European. If you plan on doing your own job search (maybe if you're interested in an uncommon field), anyway, then it will matter less. But I'd probably plan on going to a US school.

Thanks for the info Scott.

Is it ture that 80% of the companies recruting from a European B-school will have opportunities in Europe only. Can you throw some more light on this subject. I plan to do my MBA from Europe b/c their programs are only 1 yr compared to 2 yr programs here in US. Also, how effective are the 1 yr programs in Europe

I'm afraid I'm getting outside of my knowledge zone. We focused <i>Your MBA Game Plan</i> mainly on U.S. schools since we don't know European or Asian schools nearly as well. So, I can't specifically address the European one-year programs.
But more generally, in the U.S., I think that one-year programs are considered a good alternative to their two-year counterparts. The assumption that most companies (and schools) will have is that you'd only apply to these programs if you have a minimum amount of business training and experience. Assuming that you do have this, then a one-year program is fine.
