Seeking some opinions on a problem of mine. I am about to submit my Part 1 (running behind but my essays are done so Pt should be easy). However, my extracurriculars looks terrible post college.

Like a lot of people I have a very hectic schedule so I dont have much freetime outside of work commitments. Also, I did a foolish thing a few years ago and bought a dump of a house. I literally spend 20-40 hours a week working on it (even now while applying) and have pretty much redone everything myself. I put that as an extracurricular activity since I dont volunteer or do anything else because of lack of time.

I do have hobbies, should I just put those in there too since thats what I like to do with my freetime and no posting on GMATclub will not be listed though I do spend far too much time here.

river, is this for the application part or an essay? if the application, then I think the housebuilding and 1-2 of your hobbies would be great, just to show off your well-roundedness. as someone said in another thread, the extracurriculars part in the application is just for "flavor". If it were the essays, then you would need something more substantial, and the house renovating would fit the bill. Talk about how it taught you to plan, focus on details, dedication, patience, etc...

Ok, I'm right about ready to submit Kellogg part-1 and this hits me. Cumulative GPA has to be in the format XX.XX out of XX.XX. I studied in India, so my score is in the form of a percentage and looks like XX.XX out of 100.00. I tried 'fooling' the system with other formats 100.0, 100, etc. , but it didn't work. Any ideas?

That has to be a common issue did you try the help button on the application part? They may have something about that on there. If not I would call the school and ask.

I think this came up in one of the b-week forums as well. The ad-com member suggested putting it in as 99.99 instead of 100.00 while she asks the tech team to take a look at it.

I am glad I am not the only slacker that submitted it last night. I went over it with a fine tooth comb and didn't find anything. The paranoia about messing up is only going to get worse when I have to submit pt2.

I was getting worried that I wouldn't make todays deadline for PT 1 and was going to have to fly to Chicago again just to interview. I have been putting so much effort into my essays that I didn't even think about all those little forms we need to fill out.

That said all my Kellogg essays are done and out for their near final reviews. I totally ripped apart my Essay #2 this morning and did 6 hours of rewrite on it this morning before emailing it out. Its definitely a huge improvement over what it was, it was good but wasn't stellar. Now I tie my unique college experience to my very odd career and make it clear how that will benefit other students...which I was lacking. I had more of what made me different and then left it for them to figure how that would benefit the rest of the class. Now I am thinking some of my other essays suck compared to this one....AHHH the pressure.

I just recieved an e-mail from Kellogg giving me the login and pin to check my application status online. Jeez, nearly gave me a heart attack. Honestly, do you think ad-com *secretly* enjoys playing these mind games with us?!?

Hey guys--I just discovered something interesting.

I uploaded my essays and looked at the final PDF prior to submitting. It screwed up some of my Word doc formatting (but not all) and made some of my 2 page essays spill into 3.

I reuploaded it and all was fine.
