hey fellow chicago applicants....

does anyone know where to enter undergrad internship and part-time work? There are no specific places to enter that info....

If you can't fit it or justify putting it on your resume its not going to add a whole lot to your application. If you have a very unusual part time job that is something you love doing, like you are a surfing instructor on weekends you can either try to work it into an essay or maybe even put it in the block of extracurriculars (even if you get paid). If you are a bartender/waiter to help pay the bills probably not going to add a lot to your application anyways.

Am I the only one that find it extremely strange that Chicago doesn't have space for undergraduate work??? Every other school has it.

For me, I have 6 years of post grad full time work, so my resume talks about those in detail and left out anything prior. Professionally it would be the right thing to do on the resume; employers don't care much about what you did 7-8 years ago in school...they're looking for recent relevent work experience.

But I have some very solid undergraduate internships, of course i'm not talking about bartending and crap jobs like that LOLLL. I'm talking about extensive part-time work at blue-chip firms. Probably more impressive than my post-college jobs even. Not to mention all this undergrad work is why my GPA took a hit.

Any ideas?

I need help from the Chicago students and applicants. I think I am almost done with my Chicago application. But because of circumstances at work, I will not be able to visit Chicago this month. I have not attended any info session for Chicago either. So, should I delay my application just so I can say that I have attended an info session and have visited the school? Or is applying to R1 more valuable to my admit chances than whether or not I have visited the school and info session?

if you feel confident in your application, i see no reason to delay submission. visiting/attending an infosession is not required and ive met several current students that never visited until they were accepted (one was fighting in iraq though). however, i got a lot out of my visit that i feel bolstered my essays. i can see a big difference between my essays previsit and postvisit.

Do you guys think UG Work Ex can be bundled as part of Extra Curriculars in College??

im putting mine in my resume...i only have 2 years ft exp, so i think i can sqeeze in some internships.

If the application is complete, its complete. They aren't going to admit you because you visited, nor will they deny you because you didn't. If it is something that keeps you up at night, then just throw in a sentence about how excited you are to visit campus in December (or whatever). The only difference is that, in my experience, a visit usually gives you a lot of valuable material to write about - but if you feel your essays are done, then submit em and be done with it.

Is anyone elses recommender having issues logging into the online system? One of my recommenders has been trying to login but keeps running across a system error. He is working the issue with the IT support team, but I really hope my application doesn't get delayed till R2 because of this issue.

I'm done with GSB, and both recommenders have already sent their LoR!

Now for GSB I'm starting the paints pooping phase

im not a fan of this online application at all. actually makes me yearn for ApplyYourself. doesnt render correctly in firefox, and there is no pdf preview. the essays arent even converted into pdf. makes it hard to review the entire application and be sure they will see everything correctly.

I am paranoid my ppt wont look right when it prints out or something will come out screwy and make me look bad.

Isn't it amazing how we over analyze the dumbest parts of this process.

The powerpoint essay doesnt even get uploaded if its too big in size

I havent tried to upload my ppt yet. I am planning on doing it as a PDF since I did mine on a MAC and when it converts to ppt it comes out screwy half the time so I dont want to risk that . Anyone know if its possible to use a PDF.

did everybody submit a word/ppt? im thinking of going to pdf just because it is less likely to not open correctly. anybody use the paste-in-textbox choice?
