FYI, just received this:

Dear Jeremey,

Thank you for your note. We are working to assemble applications quickly but this process will take another few weeks to be completed. If you sent your score reports they are likely on file in our office and will be matched with your materials soon. Thanks for your patience.

Best regards,

On the first look, I thought it was an interview call. With a pang of jealously :P , I read through it and found it to be...

when can we expect interview calls? Mid Nov?

Well the deadline isn't until tomorrow, perhaps they will send out an e-mail like Wharton does which details the timeline.

I would expect them to start sending them 2-3 weeks after the deadline, so yeah, mid Nov probably...

Does anyone know what hotels to stay at for Yale?

I see they listed 3 hotels in their website,

Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale
155 Temple Street
203.772.6664 / 800-THE-OMNI

The Marriott Courtyard at Yale
30 Whalley Avenue
203.777.6221

New Haven Hotel
229 George Street
203.498.3100

But I think the Marriott hotel is in a really bad neighborhood. I hear Yale itself is in a bad neighborhood, but anyone with experience with these hotels?

What about you guys that are going to explore diversity? What hotel are you going to?

I'm staying at the Omni.

Check out these reviews.

https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g3385 ... otels.html

Of the 3 hotels listed, only the Courtyard reviewers mentioned the shady neighborhood. And if you look at all 3 locations, only the Courtyard is by itself.

But when it was all said and done, I went with the higher priced hotel. All 3 are the same distance to Yale, so they have to be doing something right in order to charge more. Unless of course, everyone thinks like me and they are in fact, the crappiest of the 3. It's only 1 night.

It is a comprehensive weekend geared toward people who have applied in R1 and those who have not taken the GMAT. Unfortunately I can't stay til Monday and visit a class. The first day we get to meet with Admissions and current students, the career development office, tour of school reception and attend a party that night. On Sunday we have an application session, ledership development presentation, lunch with Dean Podolny, an alumni panel, a student life panel, and a reception with dinner.

Unfortunately I can't stay on Monday due to work (i am beginning to hate work more everyday especially having to miss a class at Yale)...I am also having my interview on Saturday during the GMAT presentation....i will take the tradeoff. Also, I am flying up Friday night and will have until 1pm on Saturday to walk around campus and tour New Haven.

Is there any information my fellow GMATclubbers would like to know or questions you would like asked. Let me know.

Sounds fun.

If I read that correctly, you got invited to interview.

Congratulations.

Could you come over to the US without any problems?

Yes, I have a valid B1/B2 visa, but I suppose Yale SOM might have automatically assumed that it was not the case. I guess, I should have mentioned it somewhere on my application (where?) or sent them an email about this. And then again, any or all parts of my application might have been weak.

You will probably have to get a J visa to study. B1/B2 is only for tourist, and it might be seen as "visa fraud" to study on such a visa
