FWIW, I just got an e-mail from UCLA:

Your application for admission to UCLA Anderson has been processed. Included in this email is the 12-digit status ID required for checking the status of your application:

Seems it's all in (woohoo).

i applied R1 as well. i submitted my application about 2 weeks ago. like some of you here, i didn't receive the 12 digit PIN number initially. i called the admissions office yesterday and the first guy told me my application was put on hold because one of my recommenders didn't submit her letter. i found that odd because she even showed me her confirmation notice. i called back and after some more probing, the guy said, "oh...you're right. sorry. we do have the letter. you will be receiving your 12 digit PIN/status email shortly." so afterwards i wondered, would my application still be considered a R1 app? i submitted it before the deadline, but it wasn't viewed as "complete" until yesterday (even though that wasn't even my fault!).

overall, i haven't been very impressed with anderson's student services. back in june, i tried scheduling an info session but got no response for several weeks. when they finally got back to me, it was too late (i had already left the LA area). so i get paired up with a student for a phone interview. this student put me on hold for 5 minutes. the reason? because his girlfriend called! wth. i just didn't think it was very professional.

but there's probably no point to this spiel....as i would gladly accept to attend anderson if they offered me admission. haha!

rampup: I feel your pain. I've been contacting UCLA since July and never got a word back for any of my emails trying to set up a visit. In the end, through sheer luck and zakk's help here on GMATClub, I was able to contact some students and alum (who were able to help me TREMENDOUSLY) and do my 2 visits. Anderson is a great school that's mired down by their horrible marketing campaign (or lack thereof). But like everyone else, I would gladly go there if they accept me. :)

I am working on my UCLA essays now. How many words were you able to fit in 1 page. My 2-page family essay is at 1000 words using Times Roman - 10 font, 0.9'' borders and double spacing.

Is this acceptable? What did you guys use? I saw polobrute's post on the same issue on the 1st page of this thread, but he used 1.5 spacing. I recall that the instruction for this year indicates double spacing.

double spacing (recommended), font size 11.. play havoc with the margins.. i kept them at 0.25 (left, right, top, bottom)

the wording should be around 1000 for 2 pages and 500 for single page.. should be enuf for essays...

Hola de Peru! Anyway, 11 pt font is the minimum, but you can play with the margins and line spacing to get roughly 500 words per page, like Avi said! Good luck NC!

Thanks avi and kryzak. Did anyone complete the optional essay question? If yes, what did you use it for?

anybody have an idea when they're going to send out invites to interview? I couldn't seem to find a date on the website and was wondering if I missed something

this one is tricky. Last year, you could schedule your own interviews, this year its by invitation only. So right now, it maybe a new process and ad-com is the right person(s) to speak to.

I would suspect invites to come out sometime from the first week of december

Has anyone heard anything from UCLA yet? they're a bit late this year. Last year some people already got acceptances by mid-December.
