I don't know where XYZ is, but this:

Living Expenses for 21 months: $31,000

Seems way way low to me. Thats less than $1500 a month, and unless XYZ is in a really small town where things are cheap, thats low.


That figure does not include mortgage costs.

Embarassing as it is... It was actually $1400, not $1200, I was mistaken... and its one of my cheaper suits actually.... I tend to buy Loro Piana mostly. Armani tends not to fit well on my frame. I also have a tendency to buy some pretty ridiculously priced shirts. Shoes too, but at least there I can blame my insanely big but insanely narrow feet. There's only two manufacturers that fit me well. Reebok, and Ferragamo. Doesn't leave much in terms of options. Ties are probably my most ridiculous splurge - but I stopped buying them years ago. Hermes mostly.

Armani, Giovanni, Piscatelli, walletempti, hermes, boss - yada yada, whatever, it's just details. I haven't worn any of these so I couldn't care less ;)

This is a great one !!!!

My costs (converting everything in USD):
GMAT $250
Books $500
Applications (6 schools) $1300
Lost wages during months I took off work $40,000
Lost laptop (which got stolen while studying for gmat in the library) - $2900

holy crap - $44,950 ... Thats a LOT of money without a single admit to show for it.

Visits to Chicago GSB: $100 in cabs to go back and forth a few times
Kellogg App: $225
Chicago GSB App: $200
Dry cleaning the interview suit/shirt (twice): $30
New high heels for the interviews (that I subsequently RUINED the minute I stepped out of my apartment on my way to the Kellogg interview...GRRR...): $100

Blood, sweat, and tears: A LOT

Grand total: $2,355. Not that bad I guess!

New suit for interview: $150 (yeah, it was on sale at Banana)
Lost time and opportunity from July - December (minus November): Immesurable

Total Cost: $2650

Getting admitted to UCLA right before Xmas: PRICELESS :P

I *had* to quote this one... *$1400* for a suit?! You have very expensive tastes, rhyme! :P

It's on the 3-dimensional coordinate plane. You can plot it if you'd like. I believe Travel ranked it as the Xth Exotic place to visit for 2007.

I`ve posted it somewhere, but i`ll repeat it here :-

Vietnam, Hoi an, is full of tailors. Good prices for good quality clothing, Stay for a few days so that you can do the fitting and make any adjustments to the clothes to ensure they fit properly.

TO get there... Fly to da nang and get a taxi. Hoi an is a coastal area so there is a nice beach as well, plus they have their own style of cuisine. It`s quiet, and relaxing place. Great for a holiday.

Cost of trip to vietnam is not in my list because it was booked before i even realised i was going to do an MBA.

Thailand is your alternative but more expensive than Vietnam.
